Elohim, The Mystery of the Scriptures

Originally, the Old Testament was recorded in the Hebrew language. When the biblicist were translating the Scriptures into their vernacular form, they got puzzled by one word in the Scriptures: Elohim or אֱלֹהִים.

Elohim אֱלֹהִים is the Hebrew word for God in the English Translation. What is interesting is, however, that it should be translated as “Gods,” not “God.” The Hebrew words for the singular form of God is “El” or “Eloah.” Elohim is the plural form of God. Therefore, “Gods” would be a correct translation of the word, “Elohim.”

Elohim, Gods, not God

Some of these examples can be found in some English words with the Hebrew origin such as seraphim or cherubim whose singular forms are seraph and cherub respectively.

Mystery Unveiled

As we can see in the above translation of the Elohim, Most of the biblicists translated “Elohim” into a singular form of the language it was translated into. Therefore, in the English translation, we can see “God,” instead of “Gods” even though the latter is more appropriate way of tranlsation.

The reason behind this traslation practice is a monotheistic belief that God is one in the Scriptures. Therefore, to understand the bible correctly, first we must get rid of our prejudice on this concept of God. Once we are freed from the conventional way of thinking, we can realize the true meaning hidden in it.

Then why Elohim or Gods? We do not know because we cannot see God or God’s image. But for our convenience that we may perceive with our physical senses, God made a copy of his image on this earth, that is, man. Since man or mankind received the copied image of God, by looking at the creation of man, we can actually figure out the invisible image of God.

In the family, life to children are given by the parents, especially by the mother in the family. Bible teaches that this family system is a copy and shadow of the heavenly family where there is God the Mother who gives eternal life to children.

God the Father and God the Mother

Genesis 1:26-27  Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27  So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Mankind after the creation took two different images and forms, that is, male and female. Since these two images actually represent the images of the creator God who gave his image to mankind, we can conclude that God must have two different images too: the male image of God and the female image of God. In other words, God exists as God the Father and God the Mother.

The Revelation of God the Mother in the Last Day

Through the Book of Revelation God prophesied that Elohim would appear in the last day to give salvation.

Revelation 22:17  The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

The water of life or the salvation is given by the Spirit and the bride. The Spirit represents God the Father. Then who is the bride of God? Many have many mistaken understandings of the bride by saying that the bride is “God’s people” or something else. However, for the water of life, we must correctly understand who the bride is.

If you read through the articles in this site, you will understand who the bride is. I hope that you also realize the true mystery of God in the bible and receive the water of life.
