    [WMSCOG] Feet-Washing Ceremony and Temple

Many of the teachings of God are sometimes beyond our comprehension. To destroy the wall of Jericho, God commanded his people to turn around the wall for seven days. To defeat the Median Army, God chose his army by observing how they drink water and gave them trumpets and torches to fight in a war. All these things does not make sense in the human understanding, but when God’s people obeyed him completely, they could see the work done according to the pleasing will of God. Then what about the feet-washing ceremony?

One of the similar commands of God is the feet-washing ceremony which Jesus practiced with his disciples just before the night of the Passover. It was so much incomprehensible even to the disciples and one of them even almost disobeyed Jesus’ teaching by refusing to have his feet washed during the ceremony. And receiving a warning from Jesus, immediately he let go of his thought and obeyed his teacher. Let us take a look at what happened at that time.

John 13:1    It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Just before the Passover mean with bread and wine, Jesus poured water in a basin and started to wash the feet of the disciples. At that time, Apostle Peter refused to have his feet washed by Christ, thinking that it would be dishonorable for God to wash a sinner’s feet. He had a very respectful and reverent mind toward Jesus Christ and out of humility he did not want his teacher to wash his feet. However, when he realized that his opinion was different from the will of God, he changed his thought on the spot, following God’s commands.

John 13:6     He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” 7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” 8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” 9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!” 10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.”

Christ washing the feet of the disciples before eating the Passover. What is the meaning of this ceremony?

When Jesus said that he could not have any part with Christ unless he let Christ wash his feet. He was alarmed because his only wish was to have everything with Christ. That is why he changed his mind as soon as Che knew that he was not acting according to the teachings of God. To teach that it was necessary for him to wash their feet, Jesus said, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” This teaching is true to all the incomprehensible teachings of God found in the bible. God was teaching his people the same lesson over and over again, “Even though you don’t understand now, later you would know. Therefore, just for now, obey what I command.” He was asking the first virtue as God’s people, the complete obedience to the words of God.

Since Peter also realized the fact through the teachings of Christ, he could obey the teachings even though he could not fully understand the meaning of the ceremony at that time. Then what was the meaning of the feet washing ceremony? Why was it so important? Why should it be performed before the Passover? It would be graceful if we obey and have our feet washed before keeping the Passover even though we do not know the meaning of it. And also it would be even more graceful if we know and keep the ceremony. Therefore, now let us know the meaning behind it so that we may completely understand the ceremony and keep the ceremony with firm faith in God.

Just like all other laws and regulations of God, there was a regulation of feet washing in the Old Testament as copy and shadow which would be fulfilled by Christ in the New Testament.

Colossians 2:16   Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Paul teaches that all the regulations of the Old Testament was only a copy and shadow and the reality was fulfilled by Christ. Therefore, let us take a look at the regulation of feet-washing in the past as copy and shadow and then find out how it was fulfilled by Christ. If we look at the model of sanctuary in the time of Moses, just before enter into the tabernacle God commanded to put a water basin so that the priest who entered the tabernacle could wash their hands and feet.

Exodus 30:17   17 Then the Lord said to Moses, 18 “Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. 19 Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it. 20 Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting a food offering to the Lord, 21 they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come.”

God commanded to set up a water basin on the courtyard of the temple and he commanded the priests to wash their hands and feet before entering the temple.
God commanded that the priests, before entering the tent to serve God, must wash their hand and feet and otherwise they could be put to death. Therefore, it was a life-or-death regulation to the priests who had to constantly enter the tent day and night to serve God according to the law of God. And the bible says that this regulation in the Past was just a copy and shadow given to us to teach us the reality which can be found in Christ. Then what is the reality of all these? Let us first find out who the priests of God are.

1 Peter 2:4     As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. …….9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

The bible says that in the New Testament all the people of God are considered as priests of God who must serve God in the tabernacle. And therefore, just as priests must wash their hands and feet before entering the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place, we as priests must enter the Holy Place to serve God and before entering the tent we must also perform the ceremony of feet-washing.

Then what is the sanctuary at which we can serve God? Since we do not have a physical sanctuary or temple anymore, we must understand this spiritually. Then what is the spiritual temple or the reality of temple? Jesus let us know what the reality of temple is.

John 2:18    The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?” 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” 20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21But the temple he had spoken of was his body.

During the baptism ceremony, Christ Jesus received the Holy Spirit which descended upon his body of temple. For this reason, we can say that the body of Christ worked as the temple of God where the Spirit of God dwells.
The temple is the place where the Spirit of God dwells. But when Jesus came down 2000 years ago, he put the Spirit of God in his body. Therefore, he called his body a temple because the Spirit of God was dwelling in his body. Through this we can understand the reality of the temple, the body of Christ. Then how can we enter the spiritual temple, the body of Christ to serve God? God gave us one regulation so that we could enter the spiritual temple, his body.

John 6:53   Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.

What does it mean, “We remain in God and God remain in us”? It means God’s people who ate the flesh and blood of God can spiritually enter into the temple of God to remain in it. Through this we can understand that eating Christ’s flesh and drinking his blood is the ceremony through which we can enter the body of Christ to remain in it. Then how can we eat his flesh and drink his blood? Through the Passover of the new covenant. Therefore, the Passover is the ceremony given to us to enter the spiritual temple the body of Christ to serve God. Then in the Old Testament what should the priests do before entering the temple of God? They should wash their hands and feet. In the same way, since we can enter the spiritual temple of God through the Passover, before the Passover what should we do? We must wash our hands and feet. But Jesus said those who washed already need to wash only their feet.

John 13:10    Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean.

Then what is the meaning of bath? It is the baptism they should receive before keeping the Passover. In the Old Testament, to keep the Passover all the males must be circumcised in advance. And Paul teaches that the spiritual circumcision is the baptism. Therefore, before the Passover, we must spiritually get circumcised by receiving the baptism. Figuratively Jesus compared the baptism to bath. Since we already took bath through the baptism, we need to wash only our feet.
Spiritually, the Passover is the ceremony through which we enter into Christ’s body of temple to remain in Christ. That is why Christ taught the disciples to wash their feet before eating the Passover.
We must now realize the mind of Peter when he said, “not just my feet, but my hands head, too.” How much eagerly he wanted to have a relationship with Christ. God commanded us to have our feet washed and enter his body of temple to be blessed with forgiveness and eternal life. Now we must listen to the teachings of God by getting rid of our own thoughts just like Peter. Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother gave their flesh and blood to lead us into the Most Holy Place of the temple for salvation. Now let us keep the Passover with a thankful mind. It is not late.

Christ, The Reality Of The Temple Of God

Jerusalem, The Reality of the Throne of God

What is the true temple of God? Jeremiah said that the true temple of God is not the Jerusalem Temple in Palestine, but God would establish the true Temple of God.

Jeremiah 3:16  In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the Lord, “people will no longer say, ‘The ark of the covenant of the Lord.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made. 17 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the Lord, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the Lord.

Ark of the Covenant in the Most Holy Place of the Jerusalem Temple: The bible teaches that this temple and the ark of the covenant are a shadow for the reality that would appear. Then what is the reality of the temple and the ark of the covenant?

The ark of the covenant was called the Throne of God because God said that he would sit enthroned between the cherubim on the ark of the covenant. Inside the ark were the stone tablets of Ten Commandments and it was put in the Most Holy Place in the temple. But Jeremiah said that people would not seek the ark of the covenant anymore. What is the meaning of this? The most precious covenant of God is in the ark of the covenant: the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments and the ark of the covenant was the core of the faith of God’s people in those days.

But this prophecy says that the ark of the covenant would be lost in the future and even though it was lost, people would not seek it or make another one. Then why is it so? It is because at that time the true reality of the ark of the covenant will be revealed to the people, not the earthly ark of the covenant, but the spiritual heavenly ark of the covenant. Then what is the spiritual ark of the covenant in the last days? To understand this Christ Ahsahnghong said that we should know the relationship between the ark of the covenant and the temple.

The Ark and the Most Holy Place

Since the covenant of God was given to the Israelites, it was necessary for them to prepare a place to put the covenant of God. For that purpose they built temple according to the pattern of the heavenly temple shown to Moses. When the temple was established, they put the ark of the covenant in the Most Holy Place of the temple. When Israelites finished all the commands of God concerning to the temple, God started to dwell in the temple by filling the temple with his Spirit.

Exodus 40:33   33 Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work. 34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35 Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

But Jeremiah says that this is not reality. The ark of the covenant is not reality and since there is no ark of the covenant, there is no need of the temple, either. If there is no covenant of God, it is not necessary for people to prepare a place for one. So when Jeremiah prophesied about the abolishment of the covenant of God, the physical temple of God was also abolished. Instead, the prophecy says that he will establish the true reality of the ark of the covenant and the temple. Then what is the reality of the ark of the covenant and the temple? Since Moses built the earthly temple according to the pattern of the heavenly one, the reality of the covenant and the temple must have been heaven in those days.

The Layout of the Solomon Temple: The temple was composed of two rooms: the inner room and outer room which were called the most holy place and holy place, respectively.

    Earthly Temple and Heavenly Temple

Hebrews 8:5   They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

The earthly sanctuary or the temple was just a copy of the heavenly temple given to us to teach us the reality of the temple which is in heaven. 2000 years ago, Jesus came down to us and revealed to us the reality of the temple.

John 2:19   19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” 20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body.

The true reality of the temple was the body of the Christ. After baptism, God put the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ. Since the temple of God is the place where the Spirit of God dwells, at that time the Spirit of God was dwelling in the body of Christ, so the body of Christ could become the temple of God.

The temple of God is the place where the Spirit of God dwells. In the time of baptism, Jesus Christ received the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of God dwelt in Jesus’ body. In this respect, the body of Christ became the dwelling or the temple of God. That is why we can say that the body of Christ was the reality of the temple.

But this is not the end of the reality of the temple. When Moses built the temple, he did according to the pattern of the heavenly one. Through the earthly sanctuary God wanted to teach us the reality of the sanctuary, that is, Christ. Just as the earthly temple has two parts, the Holy Place (outer room) and the Most Holy Place (inner room), the heavenly sanctuary must have two parts too. As we have seen Jesus Christ represent the sanctuary of God, which part does he symbolize? Apostle Paul says Jesus Christ symbolizes the outer room, the Holy Place.

The Meaning of the Destruction of the Body of Christ

Hebrews 10:19  Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body.

According to the bible, the inner room and the outer room was separated by a curtain and nobody could go behind the curtain. Only once a year on the Day of Atonement the high priest could enter the Most Holy Place through the blood of animals. But Jesus came as true reality of the animal sacrifice and sacrificed his own body shedding his own blood. And Paul explains the true meaning of Christ’s shedding his blood: Christ’s body was destroyed and torn apart to tear away the curtain separating the two rooms of the temple and open the way to the Most Holy Place where the throne of God or the ark of the covenant was placed. (Mt 27:51)It means Christ’s body was the reality of the Holy Place including t he curtain. While the curtain was standing, people could not enter the Most Holy Place to meet God and receive blessing from God. By destroying his body of temple, however, he could open the way to the Most Holy Place.

What is the meaning of the crucifixion of Christ? By destroying his body of the temple, actually Christ was opening the way to the Most Holy Place to the Throne of God so that people could meet God for the forgiveness of sins. (Mt 27:51, Heb 8:8, Heb 10:19)

This means through the sacrifice of the Christ, he wanted to lead us to the reality of the Most Holy Place where the true ark of the covenant is. Then what is the reality of the Most Holy Place? Just as the reality of the Holy Place of the temple came down to this earth 2000 years ago, according to the prophecies of the bible the reality of the Most Holy Place will come down to this earth: the reality of the ark of the covenant and the true reality of the Throne of God where God dwells by putting his Spirit in it.

The Reality of the Most Holy Place

1King 6:19   He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord there. 20 The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty wide and twenty high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar.

The most important feature of the Most Holy Place is that it has the same length, width, and height, that is, a cube. But this earthly inner room of the temple was given to us to teach us the reality of the Most Holy Place which Jesus would reveal to us through the sacrifice of his body of the Holy Place. In the last days, the reality of the Most Holy Place, the Throne of God is coming down from heaven. Apostle John describes the Heavenly Jerusalem coming down from heaven:

Revelation 21:15   15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long.

What is the heavenly Jerusalem temple that is coming down from heaven in the last day? The bible describes it as shaped like a cube. This description of the temple exactly matches with the Most Holy Place of the temple. Then what is the reality of the Most Holy Place of the tempel?

What is this? The CUBE or the Most Holy Place. Then when it comes down from heaven, how would the Heavenly Jerusalem be revealed to us? Think about Jesus who was the reality of the Holy Place. How did he appeared to us? By coming as man with a physical body and By putting the Spirit of God in his body, his body could become the temple of God. Then how would this reality of the Most Holy Place of the heavenly temple appear to us? First, who is this Heavenly Jerusalem?

Revelation 21:2   I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

The heavenly Jerusalem is coming down from as bride of the Lamb. The Lamb is God the Father coming down from heaven as man. Then who is this heavenly Jerusalem, the bride of the Lamb?

Galatians 4:26   But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our Mother.

Heavenly Jerusalem is our Mother and she is the reality of the Most Holy Place. Just as our Father in heaven came down from heaven as man by putting the Holy Spirit in his body of temple, it means our Mother in heaven will come down from heaven as woman with body of the temple and she will put the Spirit of God in her body. Therefore, in the last days, our Father and Mother will appear as man in the flesh as man and woman or the last Adam and Eve to give us eternal life. 2000 years the reality of the Holy Place of the temple appeared, but people rejected him because they saw the appearance of Christ and despised him, rather than looking at the prophecies of the bible.

What is the reality of the temple of God? What is the water of life we can receive from the temple?

    Conclusion

God would test us again on our faith in God and the words of God in the bible by coming down to this earth as man in the flesh. They would appear as man and woman, which would be harder for the people to accept. But what does the prophecy of the bible say? They would come down from heaven and they would give the eternal life. What we should do is to believe in the words of God in the bible and accept the Jerusalem our Mother as the source of salvation: the true Throne of God and True reality of the Most Holy Place where the Spirit of God dwells. Let us serve the ark of the covenant by accepting Mother and following her to the end.

Thanks to heavenly Father Christ Ahnsahnghong and heavenly Mother for teaching us all these truth. Help our weak faith now and strengthen us with your Spirit so that we can stand firm without swaying to the right or left. And please forgive our sins and transgresions.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

  • [WMSCOG] Spiritual World Hidden In Physical World

Many people says that the spiritual things supposed to be invisible, so it is natural for us not to know the spiritual world. If someone says that he knows the spiritual world, he is wrong. Is it true? Are we not allowed to know the spiritual world?

Romans 1:20  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

The bible teaches us that we cannot make excuses for not knowing the spiritual and invisible world because God gave us a way to know and see the spiritual things. The spiritual world can be known through the physical world. In other words, the physical world on this earth was given to us as copy and shadow to know the spiritual world which is reality and original. The reality or original can be seen and understood through the copied things on this earth.

Heb 8:5   They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

According to the bible, the earthly sanctuary was made as copy and shadow of the heavenly sactuary which original and reality. Then can we say that we do not know the heavenly sanctuary? No, we can’t. We are supposed to know the heavenly or invisible sanctuary. Then how? The invisible sanctuary was made visible through the earthly or visible sanctuary. Then in this case can anybody make excuse for not knowing the heavenly sanctuary? Not at all. By simply looking at the earthly sanctuary, they can grasp the characteristics of the heavenly sanctuary.

Then what about the invisible image of God? Are we supposed not to know God? The bible says that even though God is invisible, there is a way for us to know God. How could it be possible? The bible says one thing on this earth was given to us to teach us “God’s invisible qualities-His eternal power and divine nature.” Then what was given to us to know God?

God let us know who he is through the creation of man? God created man in his own image, creating them as male and female.

Gen 1:26  Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”  27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

We cannot see the invisible image of God, but God gave us mankind to teach us the image of God. By looking at the image of visible man, we can know the invisible image of God. After creation, we can see two different images of man, male and female. Then through these visible images of man as copy and shadow, what is the original and reality that we should know? The invisible image of God. Then how many images of God will exist in heaven? Two, male and female. What has been the title given to this male image of God? God the Father. Then what title can be given to this female image of God? God the Mother.

Even from the creation of the world, God already let us know the existence of two different image of God, Father and Mother. According to the bible, just as God the Father appeared as man in the flesh 2000 years ago, God the Mother will appear as man (or more precisely woman) in the flesh in the last days to give us eternal life. Are you prepared to accept God the Mother who will appear in the human form in the last days? When she does appear, how can we know who she is? “These are the Scriptures that testifies about me,” said Jesus. Christ, God who comes as man in the flesh is testified in the bible. You should be prepared to recognize her to accept her and receive salvation. She might appear as ordinary woman; but in actuality she is the one who can give you eternal life if you are willing to accept.
