  • Zion the Dwelling of God

    Zion the Dwelling of God

    The Dwelling Of God

To meet someone the very first thing that we have to know is the place he resides in. We can visit there and we can have a chance to meet him. It is same with God. For God’s people to meet God we have to know the dwelling of God. By visiting there, we can meet God and be blessed by God.

God’s Dwelling in the Old Testament

    Moses Tabernacle

Then what is the dwelling of God? In the Old Testament, the dwelling of God was the temple. God said that He would come to his people to the place where He chose to cause his name to be honored.

Exodus 20:24  “‘Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.

    Solomon Temple

This was fulfilled by the sanctuary in the time of Moses and the temple in the time of Solomon. When Solomon built temple to honor the name of God, it became the dwelling of God since then. God put His Spirit in it and He dwelled among his people.

1 King 8:6 The priests then brought the ark of the Lord’s covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim. 7 The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and overshadowed the ark and its carrying poles. 8 These poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today. 9 There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt. 10 When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. 11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled his temple. 12 Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; 13 I have indeed built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”

The Reality of God’s Dwelling in the New Testament

    Zion the Dwelling of God

The bible says that the Old Testament was given as copy and shadow for the reality which was to be fulfilled in the New Testament by Christ. Then what is the reality of the temple that we should come to meet God?

Prophets of the bible teaches that Zion is the dwelling of God. And God would put his name in Zion that He would be honored by His people.

Isaiah 18:7 At that time gifts will be brought to the Lord Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned, from a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers—the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the Lord Almighty.

And the bible teaches that Zion is the dwelling of God where we must go to meet God and be blessed by God.

Psalm 132:13 For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, 14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it. 15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food. 16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.

Blessing for God’s People Who Dwell in Zion

Also, the bible teaches that as God’s people we must come to Zion the dwelling of God for the blessings of eternal life.

Isaiah 51:16 I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand—I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.’

The people who are in Zion is the people of God and they can receive the blessings of eternal life and salvation. (Psalm 133:3) Therefore, through the prophecies of the bible we can see that Zion is the dwelling of God and we must come to Zion to meet God.

    The True Zion

Zion the City of God’s Festivals

Then what is the Zion? We have to ask the way to Zion as Jeremiah says:

Jeremiah 50:5 They will ask the way to Zion and turn their faces toward it. They will come and bind themselves to the Lord in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.

Now let us find out where Zion is through the prophecies of the bible. According to the bible, Zion is the place where God’s people gather together to keep the festivals of God. It is the house of God where God proclaims feasts for his people.

Isaiah 33:20 Look on Zion, the city of our festivals

And through the festivals, God grants the blessings of the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. (Isaiah 33:24) In this sense, Zion is the church today where God’s people gather to keep the festivals of God. But the problem arises when we think about the festivals of God.

    The Festivals of God

Are all the churchs Zion? The answer is in this question: “Do they keep the festivals of God?” Since Zion is the city of God’s festivals, the people in Zion must keep the festivals of God. Today many churches claim that they keep the festivals of God such as Sunday worship, Christmas, Thanks-giving Day, etc..

If they are the festivals of God, then they are in Zion and they can be blessed by God. However, the problem is that the festivals they claim to keep as festivals of God are actually not festivals of God. Rather they are the traditions originated from man and they are only man’s customs.

The true festivals of God are recorded all throughout the bible, especially in Leviticus 23. In Leviticus, God proclaims the festivals that the people of God must keep as everlasting covenant. First, there is the Sabbath as weekly festival. And there are seven festivals of three times as annual festivals. They are the Passover, the Feast of the Unleavened Bread, the Firstfruits, the Feast of Weeks, the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, the Feast of Tabernacles. And these are the festivals of God we have to keep.

    Conclusion

Today, there is only one church which keeps the festivals of God according to all the laws and regulations of the new covenant following the teachings of Jesus and disciples: World Mission Society Church of God, or WMSCOG in short. The Church of God is Zion the dwelling of God. Come to Zion and keep the festivals of God. Then you can meet God and be blessed by God.

  • The Prophecies of God

    The Prophecies of God

It is agreed by most people, whether they are believers or not, that the bible is the best-selling book ever written in the world. Why is the bible so popular among people? It is because the bible contains the many prophecies about the world and human beings in it.

God’s Plan for the End of the Age

The End of Age Hidden in the Creation of the World

The bible is the book of prophecies. Also, as we can see through the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, those prophecies have come true. And that is why we should believe the words of God in the bible. God teaches us that all the words in the bible are prophecies of God.

Isaiah 46:10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’

The Plan of God and the Plan of Man

This means that God already planned the end of the world even when he created this world. And he recorded his plan in the bible in the form of prophecies. Some might say that we can make a plan and make it come true. Then are we God too? There is essential differences between the plan of God and that of man. The plan of man can change as time goes by. But the plan of God never changes. I will be surely done as he has planned without any fail.

Isaiah 14:24 The Lord Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.

When we look back on the prophecies of the bible, we can confirm that the word of God are absolute prophecies that are being fulfilled at God’s appointed time. God make it sure that he would fulfill everything according to the words of God in the bible.

Matthew 5:18  “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

God’s Intention Contained in the Prophecies

Discerning God and Idols Through the Prophecies

There are a couple of things that God intends to achieve Through the fulfillment of the prophecies of the bible. First, God wants us to distinguish what is true and what is false. Today, people believe in so many different things. It is mainly because they do not know how to distinguish truth from falsehood.

God gave us the prophecies that we may know the true God through the prophecies and their fulfillment.

Isaiah 41:21 “Present your case,” says the Lord. “Set forth your arguments,” says Jacob’s King. “Tell us, you idols, what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come, tell us what the future holds, so we may know that you are gods. Do something, whether good or bad, so that we will be dismayed and filled with fear. But you are less than nothing and your works are utterly worthless; whoever chooses you is detestable.

As we can see through the examples of mediums, spiritists, sorcerers, etc. in the bible, there are many people who claim to believe in gods and tell prophecies given by those gods. However, the difference between those gods and God the Almighty is that the words of God are absolute and be fulfilled surely at God’s appointed time. The words of the prophets of the idols are not. God is giving the signs and prophecies that we recognize who the true God is.

Faith in God Through the Prophecies

Second, God gives us prophecies that we may have faith in God. Some people think that God performs miraculous things and tells prophecies to reveal the power and authority of God. However, this is not the essential reason for prophecies. What God really wants to teach us through the prophecies is our faith to God.

God wants us to have absolute faith in God. To instill the faith in us God chose prophecies and the words of God.

John 14:29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.

The glory of God and the salvation of God is in the words. God created the heavens and earth through His Word and the same Word of God accomplishes the last purpose of God, salvation of souls. Therefore, without absolute faith in the words of God, we cannot be saved. That is why to give us complete faith in the words God gave us prophecies. We can trust the words of God and obey them when we see the prophecies and the fulfillment.

    Conclusion

Now has come the end of the six thousand years of God’s salvation work. God has appeared as the Spirit and the Bride and seeking those who have faith in the words of God. We should diligently study the words of God in the bible that we can have firm faith in the Spirit and the Bride who fulfilled all the prophecies of the bible.

  • The Furnace of Affliction

    The Furnace of Affliction

Whether one knows God or not, the life on this earth is pain and sorrow just as the writer of Psalm lamented.

Psalm 90:9 All our days pass away under your wrath; we finish our years with a moan. 10 Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.

    furnace of affliction

Sometimes we utter in a mumble. If there is God, why does God put in this pain and suffering? Surely God is Almighty, and, if then, he could have put us under more favorable circumstances. Our life is so short like a daydream and everybody lives in sorrow and troubles in this earth.

Because of this some might complain and deny the existence of God. However, before we make a hasty conclusion, we have to look into the words of God in the bible. Then we can realize the reason for all the adversities we face in our life.

According to the bible, this earth is a prison spiritually and we are the criminals from heaven who were sent down to this earth because of our lawlessness in heaven. As the criminals are disciplined in the prison, we are going through many disciplines on this earth.

God disciplines us by putting us in many different situations. Some might be good and some might be adverse. The purposes of these disciplines are many but it can be simply put in this way.

Isaiah 48:10 See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.

Through the afflictions, God is refining us, which means we are made pure, clean, and beautiful that we can be called the heavenly citizen. Since we became unclean because of our sins, we are purified and refined through the afflictions on this earth.

Deuteronomy 8:5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you….. 15 He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. 16 He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

Through the afflictions when we are refined like pure gold or silver, God wants to give us blessing in the end, the blessings of the forgiveness and eternal life. And we will be restored to heaven as the children of God. Let us overcome the difficulties and sufferings with a thankful mind for the love and grace of God.

  • The Urim and the Thummim

    The Urim and the Thummim

Urim and Thummim: the Symbol of the High Priest of God

According to the bible the high priest of God carries the Urim and the Thummim as the symbol of the priesthood.

Exodus 28:29 “Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of decision as a continuing memorial before the Lord. 30 Also put the Urim and the Thummim in the breastpiece, so they may be over Aaron’s heart whenever he enters the presence of the Lord. Thus Aaron will always bear the means of making decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord.

The Meaning of Urim and Thummim

    The Old Testament

Then what are the Urim and the Thummim? They were supposed to be two different stones put underneath the breastpiece of the High Priest and they were used in making decisions for such question as genealogy as in the Book of Ezra. All these were given as copy and shadow for the spiritual things in the new covenant established by Christ. Then what is the true meaning of the Urim and Thummim?

    Urim and Thummim

    The New Testament

“Urim” means light and “Thummim” perfection. If we put the two together, Urim and Thummim means “the perfect light”. As we can see through the bible, the light means the words of God.

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Proverbs 6:23 For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light.

Therefore, the perfect light means the perfect word of God. The perfect word of God is the one that gives us the complete salvation. Therefore, the Urim and the Thummim, the symbol of the high priest actually means the perfect word of God that gives us salvation.

Jesus, the True High Priest of God with Urim and Thummim

According to the bible, Jesus appeared as the high priest of God 2000 years ago.

Hebrews 5:8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Passover the Perfect Light of God

Freedom From Sins: Forgiveness Through the Passover

This means that Jesus must have the Urim and the Thummim as the high priest of God. Then what was the perfect words of God Jesus brought to us to give us salvation? It is the Passover. Through the Passover, he gave us the forgiveness of sins and freed us from the slavery of death.

Matthew 26:26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the[b] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Freedom From Death: Eternal Life Through the Passover

As the high priest in the order of Melchizedek, Jesus gave us the forgiveness of sins through the bread and wine of the Passover just as Melchizedek blessed Abraham with bread and wine. And ultimately he gave us the promise of eternal life through the Passover.

John 6:53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

By participating the flesh and blood of God through the Passover, Jesus made us to be the children of God who once was not the children of God. This was the role of the Urim and the Thummim. Through the Urim and the Thummim, the high priest could decide who is a legitimate priest of God who can carry out the priestly duty or who is not.

The Copy and Shadow Shown in the Time of Ezra

In the time of Ezra, there were many among the people who came back from the Babylonian captivity whose ancestry could not be proven and they could not carry out the priestly duty until the appearance of a high priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.

Ezra 2:62 These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. 63 The governor ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there was a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.

    Babylon Captivity

Babylonian Captivity in the Last Days

This was the copy and the shadow of what was going to happen in the last days. In the last days, people kept under the spiritual Babylonian captivity will be set free by the appearance of the high priest with the Urim and the Thummim. And they will be decided if they are the people of God or not by the perfect words of God (the Urim and the Thummim).

Revelation 18:1 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. 2 With a mighty voice he shouted: ‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal. 3 For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.” 4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; 5 for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.

According to this prophecy an angel with a great light or splendor comes to set God’s people free from the slavery of the Babylon. This is the prophecy of the second coming Christ coming as the high priest of God in the Order of Melchizedek. He is bringing the Urim and the Thummim (the perfect word of God) to set us free and give us salvation.

Christ Ahnsahnghong, the High Priest with the Urim and the Thummim

To fulfill the prophecies of the bible, Christ Ahnsahnghong appeared as the high priest of God with the light of the truth of the new covenant. He exposed the lawlessness of the Babylon the great prostitute and her daughters (false churches following the practices of the Babylon). And he restored the truth of the new covenant hidden for about 1600 years and gave us the right to be the children of God.

Therefore, we have to receive Christ Ahnsahnghong and keep the Passover. The truth of the new covenant Passover will set us free from the slavery of Babylon the Great and make us children of God. And God will judge us to be His children as Hosea said:

Hosea 2:23 I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.’ I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”

  • The Bible and Rationality

    The Bible and Rationality

As a human being, we make a decision based on rationality. In this respect, people try to make a logical and rational decision available to them. This kind of priority over rationality became the basis for all the human activities and this makes human beings powerful enough to rule over all other creatures in this earth.

This kind of emphasis on rationality, however, sometimes causes conflicts when we have to face seemingly irrational descriptions found in the bible. They seems to be so much irrational that many conclude that the bible is just a fantasy and thus it is absurd to trust what is described in the bible as true just as in the case of fantasy novels and sci fi-movies.

Then would it be foolish to believe what is written in the bible? The bible teaches that there is God in heaven who is omniscient and omnipotent. He knows everything and He has wisdom and knowledge beyond imagination. If this description is true-and it IS true, how can we explain seemingly irrational incidents in the bible. Is God irrational?

Bible and Rationality: Some Problematic Cases

    The Warriors of Gideon

When Gideon was making a war against the Midianites, they were greatly outnumbered by the enemy. The Midianites were 135,000 soldiers and only 32,000 for Gideon. Thinking rationally, everybody would say this is an impossible task and cannot be done. And what God commanded to Gideon was more inscrutable. He said the number of Gideon’s soldiers are too many and He commanded Gideon to cut the numbers through two tests. And finally only left behind were 300 warriors of Gideon. 300 VS 135,000? Who would like to be part of Gideon’s warriors in his right mind? Probably, most would think this is outrageous and would give up. Why? Because this does not make sense in terms of the judgment based on the rationality.

Gideon and his warriors were small in number, but could defeat the enemy not by the sword, but by the words of God.

Moreover, what was more absurd was the weapons given to the warriors. God commanded them to take trumpets and torches with them and blow the trumpet revealing their presence through the lights and shouts to the enemy. This actually does not make sense at all in making a war against the army much bigger than them. In most cases, a rational commander will choose a guerrilla tactics, taking the enemy by surprise and retreating immediately after making the attack. However, this kind of tactic was not in the plan of God. God told them to go to the enemy camp and announce your presence with trumpets, torches, and shouts and you will win. And indeed they did.

    The Fall of Jericho

In the time of Joshua’s conquest of Canaan, the first obstacle they have to face was the city of Jericho whose gates were “securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in.” To destroy the city walls, they have to prepare a lot of weapons such as siege engines, catapults, battering rams, etc. to demolish the walls. God could have given much more advanced weapon to the Israelites, unknown to people in those days, maybe cannon. However, this was not in the plan of God either.

Joshua 6:2  Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. 3 March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. 4 Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. 5 When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.”

Bible and Rationality: Can a city wall be destroyed just because the enemy turn around it several days?

God commanded His people to turn around the city for 7 days and shout at the appointed time and then-only then-the city wall would give up and they would capture the city. And indeed they did.

    The Bible and the Rationality

I gave just two exemplary cases of irrationality in the bible. However, we can see the similar examples all throughout the bible: Naaman healed of leprosy, Jesus’ miracles and healings of the disabled. All these evidences in the bible undermines the credibility of the bible and make people think that the bible is so much untrue and it is just a products of imagination as with a novel.

    God’s Omniscience

The bible says God is omniscient, which means God could be more rational than any of human beings. Then how come there are so many evidences that defies this faith in God? How come God gives commands more irrational than any ordinary human beings? Go and wash your body 7 times in the Jordon River. Wash your eyes at Siloam. Turn around the city wall. Shout to the enemy.

All these commands seem to be foolish in terms of man’s rationality. Why not give them more sophisticated weapons? Or give them missiles and artillery? Or give them good medicine? If God is truly omniscient, would it be hard or difficult to him to do that? It does not make sense at all. The bible must be a fiction considering all these nonsensical things described in it.

    Wisdom Beyond our Rationality

I want to tell you a story of Solomon also described in it. Once two women came forward the king, calling out for justice about a child. When they came and asked the king to decide who the true mother of the child, people in the scene must have been shocked by the foolish and irrational decision made by the king after hearing their petitions. Cut the baby in half and give each half to the two women. What a foolish judgment! How come King Solomon considered to be the wisest king makes such an irrational and brutal decision! He must have lost his senses.

In the ordinary human standard, this decision was not a rational one which one can get out from wisdom, but a foolishness. However, this seeming foolish decision turned out to be the wisest decision that the king made during his reign. Then how can we explain about this event? To understand this phenomenon, we have to first know about the nature of human rationality. Human rationality is based on the knowledge we get from our senses. Also, it is based on the principle of Utilitarianism, that is, truth is in the agreement among people. The truth is what makes most people happy and satisfied.

    Human Wisdom and Its Limitation

    Limitations of our Senses

These two, knowledge based on senses and Utilitarianism (or democracy), are the main principle behind the human wisdom and rationality. But the problem is neither of them can be much helpful in finding the truth. First, the knowledge we get from our five senses are not perfect at all and thus we cannot trust them because they are so much limited. They are so much imperfect that it is impossible to make a perfect decision considering every details. For example, since we do not have an Xray-like eyes, we cannot see what is hidden underneath us. Because of this, in the mine field, if we turn in the wrong direction, we can lose our lives, which is one of the main causes of casualties in war. It is same with the rest of the five senses: ears, nose, mouth, and skin.

    Democracy and Truth

Second, the Utilitarian principle has never been a perfect way in finding the truth. Everybody knows that we cannot consider one thing to be true, just because it is agreed to be true by most people. Our democratic system (or Utilitarian system) which decides everything on the majority basis, including who should be our President and what laws we should have. Everything is decided by a majority vote and for the happiness of the majority people. However, we already know the negative effect of this principle and find many examples throughout the human history. Even we can see the adverse effect of the democracy in our Congress where the people we choose by the majority vote for our benefit are actually wasting our time and resources because of their foolishness and selfishness. Every four years we are regretting for the decision we made, but still there is no progress.

The Bible and the Wisdom of God

    God’s Plan and Its Result

Let us go back to the irrational things in the bible. God is arguably perfect and omniscient. But then why did the perfect God give the seemingly irrational commands to people? In this argument, there are several points we miss. First, think about the results of the commands of God. When we decide if a plan was successful or not, we usually look at the result of the plan. Then what about the plan of God for the two wars mentioned above? Were they successful? Yes. Then we can say the plan of God was perfect. They could defeat the enemy completely without any significant damage on their side.

From the old days, the best way to win a war is to win it without having to fight. God’s strategy was like that. God has shown that He is the best tactician who can win every battle without causing any casualties on His side. Therefore, when we consider the results of God’s plan, we have to say, “Oh, God is the perfect designer for everything”, rather than “What! How foolish and irrational plan it is!”

Reasons Behind the Irrationality of God’s Plan

Second, this is the most important to consider if God’s plan is rational or not: a spiritual world. Since we are trapped in time and space, the knowledge we get from this world is so much limited and narrow. Due to our blindness to the spiritual and invisible world, sometimes human beings are rebuked even by an animal as we see in the case of Balaam, who was rebuked by a donkey because of his insensitivity toward the spiritual things. (We are no better than ignorant animals!) (Numbers 22) We are confined to the three dimensional world where there is the limitation of the time and space. We cannot make a perfect decision because we cannot see ahead of time or beyond our physical world.

But how about God? God is free from time and space. His sight reaches every where far to the past and future, to the physical world and spiritual. Since He can consider all the factors we cannot perceive, He can make a better decision.

Bible and Rationality: Solomon's seemingly irrational judgment and the result

    Conclusion

Therefore, when we say the bible is irrational, we are making a big mistake by judging God with our own perspective. However, this kind of judgment is absolutely wrong, considering the limitations that we have as human being: the limitation caused by the senses we use to get knowledge, and the limitation of our knowledge for the spiritual world.

God who are free from all these limitations and who can take into consideration all the related factors can make the best decision for anything. It may seem to be irrational to us, but it would turn out to be the best way for us in the end.

In short, we have to be careful in making a silly comment doubting the rationality of God. God who created all the universe in the orderly and scientific manner should not be called irrational just because the standard does not meet the human judgment. The wisdom of God is different from the wisdom of man. In the same way, the reason of God is different from that of man. We cannot say God is unreasonable by the human standard.

1 Corinthians 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

  • The Names that we have to know for the salvation

The Names that we have to know for the salvation

The bible teaches us that we must call on the name of God for our salvation. It does not just say that we have to believe in God. Rather, the bible says that we have to know the name of God the Savior and when we pray in the name of God we can be saved.

Joel 2:32 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

For this reason, God gave the name Jehovah to His people that they maybe saved with the name of God; and Jesus 2000 years ago. Then how about in the last day? Can we be saved in the name of Jesus in the last day too? The bible says that we have to know the new name of Jesus for our salvation.

The Names of Savior in the Last Day

    Jesus’ New Name

Revelation 2:17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

2000 years ago, Jesus foretold what would happen in the last days to Apostle John. And in this prophecy, Jesus says that he would give a new name to his people in the last days. Then whose name is this?

Revelation 3:11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12 The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. 13 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

In this prophecy, he teaches us that he would reveal “his (Jesus’) new name” in the last day. This is the name of the Savior in the last day. Therefore, those who want salvation in the last day must know the new name of Jesus and call on his new name for their salvation. Not only that, he teaches that we have to know the name of the new Jerusalem coming from heaven.

The Name of the Heavenly Jerusalem

Then who is this heavenly Jerusalem and why should we know the name of the heavenly Jerusalem? First, let us find out who the heavenly Jerusalem is. The Book of Revelation shows us about the heavenly Jerusalem coming down from heaven in the last day.

Revelation 21:9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

Here, Apostle John was shown through a vision, the heavenly Jerusalem coming to the earth as the bride of the Lamb. Since the Lamb signifies Jesus Christ, the wife of the Lamb means the wife of Jesus and She is the heavenly Jerusalem.

Heavenly Jerusalem and the Water of Life

    The Spirit and the Bride

God the Father and the Water of Life

Then what is the purpose of her coming down to this earth?

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

The water of life is eternal life as we can confirm through the words of Jesus. (John 4:13-14) Therefore, we can know this is the prophecy about the Savior in the last day who was to come and give the water of eternal life to his people who are thirsty and who wishes.

Then who are coming as Savior in the last day? The verse above says it is the Spirit and the bride who give the water of life. The Spirit is Jesus who also appeared as the Lamb in Chapter 21, who was the bridegroom in the prophecy. And according to the Trinity, the Spirit or the Lamb is God the Father who can give us eternal life.

God the Mother and the Water of Life

Then who is the heavenly Jerusalem, the bride of the Lamb who comes down from heaven in the last day to give the water of life?

Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

Here Apostle Paul teaches us the identity of the heavenly Jerusalem and he says that she is “our mother”, which means God the Mother. By connecting the verses from Revelation and Galatians we can know these are the prophecies of the appearance of God the Mother in the last day. God the Mother would appear as the bride of the Lamb (God the Father) to give the water of life.

The Names of God the Father and God the Mother

Therefore, these are the prophecies of the appearance of God the Father and God the Mother for our salvation in the last day. Then when they appear, how can we receive the salvation of the water of life? To receive the water of life, we must call on the names of the Savior. That is why Revelation says that we have to know the names of God in the last days.

In this prophecy God teaches us that we have to receive two names in the last day: that is, the name of the heavenly Jerusalem and the new name of Jesus. What are these names? They are the name of the Saviors in the last day who gives the water of life: the name of God the Father and the name of God the Mother.

Mother the source of living water
Drink Living Water from Heavenly Mother

    Conclusion

Then do you know the name of the Spirit and the bride for your own salvation? If not, how can you call on the name of God in the last days? Find the names of the Spirit and the bride in the Church of God. Then your salvation will become complete.

  • The Goal of our Faith

    The Goal of our Faith

    The Plan of God

Whatever is done on this earth has a certain purpose in it. Nothing is done without a purpose.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build.

We call this time and activity a plan. Whether it is a daily, monthly, or yearly one, we have a plan. And we make the plan to achieve a goal, which is the purpose of our plan. Spiritually it is the same. God has made a plan. When we are going to church and study the bible, we are following the plan of God.

Salvation of soul, the Goal of our Faith

Then what was the purpose of God making the plan? The bible, which contains the plan of God also reveals the purpose God intends to achieve through the plan. Then what is the ultimate purpose of God?

1 Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

The goal of our faith is the salvation of our souls. For this purpose God made a plan even before the creation of the world. And He has achieved everything according to his plan throughout the human history. By achieving everything one by one according to his plan, God let us know that whatever he has planned will be accomplished completely without missing anything.

Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Isaiah 14:24 The Lord Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.

Then according to the plan of God, what should we do to receive the goal of our faith, the salvation of our souls? In the Book of Revelation God teaches us about the salvation in the last days.

The Spirit and the Bride, God the Father and God the Mother

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

2ooo years ago, it was Jesus Christ who gave the water of life to the people who wishes to drink. Those who met Jesus and received him could receive abundant water of life and quench their thirst for salvation.

However, the bible says that in the last we have to meet and receive the water of life from the Spirit and the bride. Then who are the Spirit and the bride who give the water of salvation to whoever is thirsty? The bible teaches the Spirit is the Lamb, the second coming Christ who was to come in the last day. (Revelation 22:20) Then who are the bride, the wife of the Lamb?

It is God the Mother who appears in the flesh in the last day. (Revelation 21:9, Galatians 4:26) According to the plan of God for our salvation, the Spirit (God the Father) and the bride (God the Mother) will appear together in the flesh and give the water of life (the words of God for our salvation) in the last day. The Spirit and the Bride have already come and they are giving out the water of salvation through the Passover today. Come to the Church of God or WMSCOG, and meet the God who came to give salvation to us.

  • Return to God

    Return to God

    Return to God

Just as Moses said in the Book of Psalm, our life on this earth is but trouble and sorrow and it quickly pass, and we fly away to death in the end. (Psalm 90:9) Then why are we living the life of hardships and troubles on this earth?

The Parable of Garden of Eden

God teaches us the reason through the parable of the Garden of Eden. In the Garden of Eden lived Adam and Eve. Their life was prosperous, and everything was provided to them, even eternal life by eating from the tree of life. However, one day, eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they were driven out of the Garden of Eden. Since they disobeyed the words of God and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they were cast out from the paradise to the cursed land which produced thorns and thistles instead of the tree of life.

This story of the Garden of Eden is a parable given to us to teach us about our origin and our life on this earth. We were once in the Garden of Eden (the Heavenly Kingdom) with God and other angels, but due to our disobedience we were sent down to this earth, the land of sufferings. We broke the heavenly law, and practiced lawlessness or committed sins. And because of the lawlessness and sins, we were separated from God. Because we were sent away from God and His blessings, we are in the agony of death on this earth.

Separation From God Due to our Sins

Isaiah 59:1 Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

Then how can we restore to the Garden of Eden our Home and live in joy and happiness with God again? Is there any way we can go back to the paradise again? The bible teaches we can go back to the Garden of Eden and eat from the tree of life again. To return to God, the very first thing that we need is to receive the forgiveness for our sins we committed in heaven. Since we were sent out due to our sins, it is natural that we should receive the forgiveness of our sins to go back to God and heaven.

The Forgiveness of Sins Through the Passover

Then how can we receive the forgiveness of sins to return to God? 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ taught us the way to receive the forgiveness of sins and return to God. On the night of the Passover, Jesus took bread and wine, which represents his flesh and blood, and gave to the disciples, teaching them that they could receive the forgiveness of sins through the Passover.

28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Returning To God through the Passover

By giving us the new covenant, Jesus opened the way to the Garden of Eden again that we may return to God. When we keep the new covenant Passover, we can return to God and be with God, receiving all the blessings we received from God in heaven again.

56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.

    Hezekiah’s Passover

Once we got separated from God because of our sins, but now we can be with God by keeping the Passover. Therefore, we can be sure that we can go back to God by keeping the Passover. We can confirm this this the bible. In the time of King Hezekiah, the king realized the importance of the Passover and sent his message all over the land, inviting them to keep the Passover. And this was his message to the people.

2 Chronicles 30:6 At the king’s command, couriers went throughout Israel and Judah with letters from the king and from his officials, which read: “People of Israel, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, that he may return to you who are left, who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria. 7 Do not be like your parents and your fellow Israelites, who were unfaithful to the Lord, the God of their ancestors, so that he made them an object of horror, as you see. 8 Do not be stiff-necked, as your ancestors were; submit to the Lord. Come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever. Serve the Lord your God, so that his fierce anger will turn away from you. 9 If you return to the Lord, then your fellow Israelites and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will return to this land, for the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.”

Again and again he earnestly entreated the people of Israel to return to God by keeping the Passover. This message clearly teaches us that the Passover is the way to return to God and receive His blessing.

The Results of Obedience and Disobedience

Then what will happen if we do not keep the Passover and return to God? In the story above, despite the message from the king, many people did not listen to him. In those days, the nation of Israel was divided in two kingdoms: southern Judah and northern Israel. The people of Judah obeyed to the message of the king and kept the Passover, but the people of Israel not. Later the two nations had to face completely different consequences due to their action.

The kingdom of Israel got destroyed by the Assyrian army, but the kingdom of Judah was saved out from the war against Assyria. And God teaches the reason for those results.

2 Kings 18:12 This happened because they had not obeyed the Lord their God, but had violated his covenant—all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened to the commands nor carried them out.

God teaches that the nation of Israel was conquered by the army because they did not obey the command of God and keep the Passover. On the contrary, the land of Judah was protected from the disasters because they obeyed the command of God.

    Conclusion

This lesson was given to us as examples. We are living on this earth, going through many sufferings and in the end to death. It is all because of our sins we committed against God in heaven by disobeying his commands. Now God came down to this earth and opened the way to the heaven again by giving the forgiveness of our sins through His own flesh and blood.

We should not be like the people of Israel who ridiculed and scorned the message of God to their own destruction. Rather, we should obey the words of God and keep the Passover like the people of Judah.

Christ Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother came down to this earth and opened the way to return to God by restoring the new covenant Passover which Jesus established 2000 years ago. And they are inviting us to return to them and to receive the water of life by keeping the Passover. Now we should not practice lawlessness again and disobey the words of God. We must return to the Spirit and the bride with a mind of humility and keep the Passover. And then they will forgive our sins and take us back to the eternal Garden of Eden.

  • Gospel and the Passover

    Gospel and the Passover

    The Blessings in the Gospel

The very first thing that Jesus did when he began his ministry was preaching the gospel. “Gospel” means good news because the new of the salvation in the kingdom of heaven is contained in the gospel. Therefore, this gospel has utmost importance in the providence of God for salvation.

Let us first understand what kind of blessings are contained in the gospel. The gospel has the promise of God in it.

Ephesians 3:6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

Paul specifies three blessings promised in the gospel. Through the gospel, first, we, who are once called Gentiles who do not know God, can become heirs or the children of God. And second, through the gospel, we can be the members of one body together in Christ. Lastly, through the gospel we can be under the promise God gave to his people for the salvation.

These are the blessings God promised in the gospel. In short, all the blessings we need for salvation is contained in the gospel. Gospel allows us to be one body in Christ as head and to be the children of God who can inherit the kingdom of heaven, and also to participate in the promise of God.

    Jesus preaching the gospel

    What is the True Gospel?

Therefore, we have to know what the gospel is. Sadly, however, even though there are many churches in this world which claim that they preach the gospel, we cannot find the truth in them. All of these churches teaches different doctrines from one another. It is hard to find the true gospel. Since God warned us that we have to know and follow the true gospel and, if not, we will be cursed rather than be blessed by God. (Galatians 1:6)

Then what is the true gospel? What is the truth that we should obey to participate in the true gospel? The bible teaches the Passover is the core of the gospel. Then let us see how the Passover can be the essential element of the gospel.

    Gospel and the Passover

First Blessing of the Gospel and the Passover

The Passover makes us eligible for the first blessing of the gospel that the Gentiles becomes heirs together with Israel. As we can see in this world, who can become an heir in the family? It is the children, right? In the same way, we can become the heirs of God? It is God’s children.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Then how can we be the children of God? It is through the Passover. If we look at the family system in this world, the children receive the same flesh and blood of the parents. In the same way, to be the children of God, we have to receive the flesh and blood of God. When we have the flesh and blood of God in us, we become the children of God, which make us the heirs of God. Then how can we receive the flesh and blood of God?

Matthew 26:26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

While keeping the Passover (Matthew 26:17), Jesus sealed his words of promise on the bread and wine of the Passover. By participating in the bread and wine of the Passover, we can participate in the flesh and blood of Jesus and we can become the children of God as Jesus, who was called the Son of God. We can become sons and daughters of God.

Second Blessing of the Gospel and the Passover

What about the second blessing that we can be members together in one body? Now let me explain how we can be members together in one body through the Passover. The Passover is the ceremony through which we can eat the flesh and drink the blood of Christ. Since all of us participate in the same flesh and blood of Christ, we become one body in Christ.

I Corinthians 10:16 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.

Paul clearly teaches that, since we participate in the body and blood of Christ through the bread and wine of the Passover, we can become one body in Christ. Even though we are given different talents as the members of body, still we are working together as one in Christ.

Romans 12:4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

Third Blessing of the Gospel and the Passover

Third, we can receive the promise of God through the Passover. First, what is the promise of God for the children? It is eternal life. (1 John 2:25) Then how can we receive eternal life? Again, it is through the Passover.

John 6:53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Jesus teaches that we can participate in the promise of eternal life when we eat his flesh and drink his blood. The only way we can eat and drink the flesh and blood of Jesus is through the Passover. By eating the Passover, we can receive the promise God gave to the children: eternal life.

Passover, the Fulfillment of the Gospel

In this sense, the Passover is the fulfillment of all the blessings promised in the gospel. And the Passover is the completion of the salvation God planned for the children. Therefore, the true gospel we have to obey is the Passover.

Even though there are many churches in this world, there is only one church which keeps the Passover. That is World Mission Society Church of God, or WMSCOG, established by the second coming Christ Ahnsahnghong. The Passover is drawing near. Come to the Church of God and keep the festival. And you will understand and know the mystery that was hidden since the creation of the world, which God prepared for the salvation of the children.

  • The Most Sacred Food

    The Most Sacred Food

Sacred Food for the Priests of God

According to the regulations and laws of the old covenant, only the members of the priestly family could eat from the most sacred food.

Leviticus 22:10 No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it.

The food offered to God in the sanctuary was called “sacred food” because it came from the sacred place that is sanctuary, the dwelling place of God. And God allowed the sacred offerings to the family of the priests, the descendants of Aaron the first high priest chosen by God. According to this regulation the right to eat the sacred offerings was given to the Levites among the 12 tribes. It was because they were chosen as people to serve in the sanctuary, serving God.

However, all these things are just a copy and shadow for the real things that are going to be fulfilled by Christ in the new covenant. Paul testifies that the sanctuary and its regulations in the Law of Moses were just a copy, not a reality, for the things to come.

    SONY DSC

    The Reality of the Sanctuary

Hebrews 8:5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” 6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.

Here, Paul says that the sanctuary in the old covenant was a shadow for the real and heavenly sanctuary revealed in the new covenant by Christ. And the ministry of the old covenant (the Order of Aaron) was also a shadow for the ministry of the new covenant (the Order of Melchizedek), which was established by Christ and superior to the priesthood of Aaron.

    The Order of Melchizedek

What does this mean then? If there is a heavenly sanctuary as reality, there should be the heavenly high priest and other members of the priestly family. And also they should eat from the sacred food coming from the heavenly sanctuary.  Let us find answer for all these questions.

First, who is the heavenly spiritual high priest who ministers according to the regulations and laws of the new covenant which contains “better promises” for God’s people. Paul testifies that it is Jesus.

Hebrews 5:8 Son though he was, he (Jesus) learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Then now who are the people chosen by God as priests in the Order of Melchizedek which was established by Christ? According to the bible all God’s people are now called priests of God serving God in spirit and in truth.

1 Peter 2:4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

The Reality of the Sacred Food

Then there remains one question, that is, “What is the sacred food that we have right to eat as people chosen as God’s royal priesthood?” According to the regulations of the old covenant, the food or offering coming from the sanctuary or temple was considered holy and sacred because the sanctuary itself was holy and sacred.

Then we have to eat the food coming from the heavenly sanctuary? Then what is the heavenly sanctuary, the reality of the earthly sanctuary. Jesus teaches us the reality of the sanctuary:

John 2:18 The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?” 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” 20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

Here Jesus reveals the reality of the temple, that is, his body. Christ’s body was the temple of God because the Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit were dwelling inside the body of Christ. Through this we can see that Jesus himself was the reality of the temple came down from heaven.

Then what is the sacred food that we as priests of God have to eat? Jesus let us know the most sacred food coming from his body of temple? Then what is it?

John 6:53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

    Passover, the Most Sacred Food

The most sacred food that comes from the temple was the flesh and blood of Jesus that we as priests have to eat to receive blessings of God, eternal life. In the Book of Matthew Chapter 26, Jesus teaches us the way we can eat from his flesh and blood through one regulation.

Matthew 26:17 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”

On the night of the Passover, Jesus gave the regulations to eat “the real food”. By eating the Passover bread and wine, we can participate in the flesh and blood of Christ, which is the most sacred food allowed only to the royal priests of God. Jesus sealed this ceremony as new covenant, the laws pertaining to the ministry of the Order of Melchizedek. (Luke 22:20)

    Conclusion

God’s royal priests who took part in the new covenant will go back to the kingdom of heaven and will reign there forever and ever.

Revelation 22:5 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.

God allowed us a wonderful promise of eternal life and heavenly royal priesthood to be kings and queens in heaven, reigning forever and ever. Now let us take part in this promise by keeping the Passover the new covenant and by participating in the flesh and blood of Christ, which is the most sacred food allowed to the heavenly priests chosen by God.
