Many people try to find the meaning in a text. They know the author of a book has an intention in writing the book and through the act of reading we have to find the meaning or the intention of the author. And people give many interpretations of the book according to what they have understood of the book.
Then how about the bible? Today there are so many people who read the bible and there also are many interpretations of the bible. Almost everyone forms their own opinion of the bible after reading it. And many of the interpretations are plausible and seemingly make sense. In that case, can we say that their interpretations are correct? Definitely not.
The question of “how” to interpret the bible is not important in understanding the bible. Every one gives their opinion of “how” they read and understood the bible. However, the question of how can mislead us into believing many different interpretations to be true. This is not the right way to understand the bible. The author of the bible is God and God has his own intention which can be known only by God himself.
Therefore, what is most important in understanding the bible is the question of “who” has given the interpretation. The bible has many parables written in figurative language and the only one who can give the right interpretation for those parables is God himself, who is the writer of the bible.
Therefore, the bible teaches that we should not make a judgment until Christ comes again and reveals the things hidden in darkness. (1Co4:4) Also, in the Book of Revelations, the only one who can open the bible and reveal the truth in the bible which has been sealed with the seven seals is the Root of David. (Revelations 5:1) This means only the Root of David can understand the meaning of the bible and we must meet the Root of David to know the secrets hidden in the bible. Our interpretation is not important. Rather, our interpretations are misleading and they cannot lead us to the truth in the bible.
We must find the Root of David because he is the only one who has authority to open the seven seals of the bible. That is why the Book of Hosea teaches us that we must seek and find David in the last days. And he can teach us the truth. And what we have to do is to obey as he has taught us to do. All these verses of the bible teach us that the bottom line is in “Who”, not “How” in understanding the bible.
