A Priest Ministering With the Urim and Thummim

The Israelites Freed From the Slavery of the Babylon

In the time of Jehoiakim, the Babylonians conquered Judah and the Jews started to serve the Kingdom of Babylon since then. And later they were taken to the land of Babylon as slaves, and the Isrealites had to live in the land for 70 years until the fulfillment of the prophecy of the bible. (Jeremiah 25:11) And 70 years later in around 539 AD when the Persian Kingdom conquered Babylon, King Cyrus the King of Persia set the Israelites free from the slavery and let them go back to their own land.

In the Book of Ezra Chapter 2, we can see the descriptions of the people who came back for the slavery and their genealogies. But there were some problems for the people whose genealogies were uncertain at the time. They could not prove that they descended from the family they claimed to be in. Because of this they could not be included in the priesthood and they were ordered not to eat any of the most sacred food, the most sacred right they had as a member of the priest family.

And the bible says that they could be restored to their rightful position as priests of God in only one condition:’

Ezra 2:62 These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. 63 The governor ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there was a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.

According to the Law of Moses only the priestly family could take part in the sacred food for the sanctuary. Since the sanctuary the dwelling of God is sacred, anything that belongs to it was also considered to be sacred, including food. Therefore, God allowed only the members of the priest family to eat the sacred food coming from the sanctuary.

Exodus 29:31 Take the ram for the ordination and cook the meat in a sacred place. 32 At the entrance to the tent of meeting, Aaron and his sons are to eat the meat of the ram and the bread that is in the basket. 33 They are to eat these offerings by which atonement was made for their ordination and consecration. But no one else may eat them, because they are sacred. 34 And if any of the meat of the ordination ram or any bread is left over till morning, burn it up. It must not be eaten, because it is sacred.

Leviticus 22:10 No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it.

    Melchizedek Ahnsanghong

A Priest Ministering With Urim and Thummim

The right to eat from the sacred food was given only to the family of the priests. And some of the people were excluded from eating the sacred food since they could not prove their ancestry through the genealogical record. In this case, there must appear a priest ministering with Urim and Thummim to decide and judge whether they are the true members of the priest family or not. Then what are the Urim and Thummim. One of the ornament made for a priest was a breastpiece with 12 stones which represent the 12 tribes of Israel and inside the breastpiece the priest must carry Urim and Thummim when he enter the sanctuary to make right decisions for the Israelites.

Exodus 28:29 “Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of decision as a continuing memorial before the Lord. 30 Also put the Urim and the Thummim in the breastpiece, so they may be over Aaron’s heart whenever he enters the presence of the Lord. Thus Aaron will always bear the means of making decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord.

So when the priest had to make a important decision, he carried Urim and Thummim in front of God so that the right decision could be made for the matter. Urim and Thummim means “Light” and “Perfection” respectively. Therefore, its meaning is the “perfect light”. According to the bible, “light” means the truth, and thus Urim and Thummim can be interpreted as “Perfect Truth”.

This means the matter of deciding the descendancy of those unrecorded people could be possible only through the appearance of the priest with “Perfect Truth”. The principle concerning the analogy between the light and truth can be interpreted like this. When we are in darkness, we cannot know or decide the colors or shapes. Only through the light everything can be exposed to us in its own value. Likewise, without truth we cannot know if a certain thing or idea is true or false. However, when the perfect truth appears, we can have means to judge and decide their value according to the accurate standard. In this sense, the truth can be compared to light.

Anyway, this concept of a priest with Urim and Thummim was not given only for the Israelites in the time of Ezra. Rather, it will come truth when God decides his people in the last days.

    The Chosen People of God

The bible teaches that God will separate people into two groups: one for salvation and one for destruction. We can see so many different parables of Jesus Christ concerning the work of God separating his people from the evil ones in the last days.

Matthew 13:29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

Also we can see the similar motive in the parable of 10 virgins and the parable of separating sheep from goats.

Matthew 25:31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

At this time of separation, God will gather all the people together and decide if they are the chosen ones or not. As was prophesied in the Book of Hosea, in those days those who was once not called my people would be called my people. (Hosea 2:23) In deciding the “genealogical descendancy” of people in the last days, there are two important conditions to make the right decision as we have already seen in the Mosaic Law. First, the high priest must come and second, he must have Urim and Thummim or “Perfect Truth” in him to distinguish right from wrong.

The High Priest With Urim and Thummim

Then who came as high priest with Urim and Thummim? Who is the high priest with perfect truth? According to the bible, Jesus fulfilled the prophecies and came as the high priest with perfect truth. Paul explains two different priesthood: the priesthood of Aaron and the priesthood of Melchizedek.

He says that the priesthood of Aaron which was established according to the Law of Moses or the old covenant was not perfect for the salvation. Therefore, God set up another priest in the Order of Melchizedek established according to the Law of Christ or the new covenant. Jesus appeared as the priest in the Order of Melchizedek with perfect truth that gives salvation.

Hebrews 7:11 . If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood—why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? 12 For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.

Hebrews 5:8 Son though he (Jesus) was, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

This means Jesus is the reality of the high priest God prophesied through the copy and shadow of the high priest in the Law of Moses. Then what is the perfect truth Jesus brought?

    Passover the law of life
Jesus and His Disciples Keeping Passover

Urim and Thummim, the Perfect Truth

Since Jesus is the reality of the high priest, he must have “Urim and Thummim” or the Perfect Truth through which he can make decision and judgment to distinguish the legitimate people of God in the last days. Then what is the perfect truth he brought with?

Hebrews 8:7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. 8 But God found fault with the people and said: “The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. 9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. 10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” 13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

Here God says that the old covenant or the Law of Moses was not “perfect” enough for the salvation of his people. And for this reason God prophesies that He would establish the new covenant that is “the perfect truth” through which they could be the people of God. Hosea’s prophecy could be come truth through the new covenant. People who once was not called “my people” could be “my people” through the new covenant. Those who has the new covenant can be called people of God.

Then what is the new covenant Jesus established as high priest with Urim and Thummim? It is the Passover.

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

    Conclusion

Through this we can understand the perfect truth or Urim and Thummim through which God decide and judge the legitimate people of God is the Passover new covenant. Those who keep the new covenant would be separated as sheep for salvation and those who did not keep the Passover would be grouped as goats for eternal condemnation. As people of God we must keep the Passover the new covenant for our salvation.

Even though the perfect truth “new covenant” was abolished by the work of Satan after the ascension of Jesus. Today, just as the parable says we can see both weeds and wheats are growing on the harvest field. To separate the wheat from the weeds, Christ must come back again with Urim and Thummim. Christ Ahnsahnghong brought back the Passover new covenant (the perfect truth, Urim and Thummim) and now he is separating people into two groups. In which group do you want to be in?

  • The Reason Christ Must Come in the Flesh

The Reason Christ Must Come in the Flesh

2000 years ago, God has come down to this earth in the flesh. Even though the God they worship came, the Israel people mocked him, ridiculed him and killed him on the cross in the end. Then why did God have to appear in the flesh? He could have appeared with all the spiritual glory and power and with thousands upon thousands of angels. He could have destroyed immediately who disobeyed his words and put them into the eternal agony of hell.

However, He did not do that. He appeared in the form of man in the flesh. And He walked a thorny path, going through many sufferings and hardships. And finally He sacrificed himself on the cross among the people who mocked him, saying, “If you are the son of God, then come down from the cross and save yourself.” And others said, “He saved others, but he cannot save himself.” Even though people mocked him like this, he was silent and did not open his mouth. He endured all the humiliations and sufferings.

Why did he have to come? Why did he have to go through all the sufferings? Why did he not say anything in his defense?

    Sin and Death

The bible teaches that everyone on this earth is a sinner who committed sin in heaven and was sentenced to a death penalty because of their sin.

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

The bible says we are all destined to die because of our sins and there is no exception for this. Even though we are sinners who disobeyed God, however, God still loved his people and wanted to save them.

The only way for them to be saved is to pay the debt for the sin. And the only way to make the payment for the sin is to sacrifice their life. If the sinners had to pay the debt themselves, they had to give up their life because the wage of sin is death. If they had to die for their sin, what would the salvation mean to them? It is meaningless to them because they had already died because of their sin.

In this deadlock situation the only way for them to receive the forgiveness for their sins and salvation is that they must have someone who would die in their stead for the sins they have committed. In the Old Testament this was done with animal sacrifices. When God’s people committed sins, they could receive redemption by shedding the blood of animals as ransom for their sins.

Forgiveness through the Sacrifice of Christ

The problem was that they could not completely wash away their sins through the animal sacrifice.

Hebrews 9:9 This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.

For this reason, to give the complete forgiveness of sins and salvation, the bible teaches that Christ would come and take up our sins and sacrifice himself as lamb. In this way, the sins of people will be taken away completely and they can receive forgiveness and salvation.

Hebrews 9:12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.

To give the forgiveness of sins to his people, Christ must come down to this earth in the flesh and sacrifice himself as lamb to take away the sins of his people.

John 1:29  The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

I Corinthians 5:7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

2000 years ago, Christ has come as lamb and by sacrificing himself on the cross he could open the way for the forgiveness of sins and salvation to his people.

Jesus sacrificed himself as the Passover lamb.

Second Coming Christ Coming in the Flesh

Like this people who have no ability to take up their sins and make the right payment for the sins must seek Christ who can take up their sins and give them salvation. 2000 years ago, those who received Jesus Christ could receive forgiveness and salvation.

In our time too the bible teaches us the Christ must come back again in the flesh. It is because the truth of life the Passover new covenant Jesus Christ established through his blood got abolished by the work of Satan. The way for the forgiveness and salvation has disappeared. And in the last days the people of God are in the agony of sins and death again without any hope for salvation.

In this situation, to restore the law of life Passover Christ must come back in the flesh again so that his chosen people could receive forgiveness for their sins. For this reason, Christ Ahnsahnghong has appeared to us and restored the Passover. He opened the way for the salvation again. And furthermore he let us know the reality of the new covenant Heavenly Mother New Jerusalem, who is the one that gives life and salvation to the children of God.

Now let us understand why God should come in the flesh and receive Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother who came in the flesh only for the salvation of the heavenly children.

  • The Author of Human History

    The Author of Human History

    The Author of Human History

When we think of kingdoms in the human history, we first think of the first king of the kingdoms who is claimed to be the one who built the kingdom. Thus, we tend to think that Genghis Khan was the founder of the Mongolian Empire; Alexander the Great, the Greek Empire.

When we play the game Chess, the Knight goes forward and captures the Queen, which ends the game. In that game, the Knight seems to be the one who ended the game. However, actually it is the Chess player who controls those Chess pieces who made it possible to end the game.

The human history can be read in the same way. Seemingly, it is a king or a general who conquered the nations. In reality, however, everything is controlled by God who moves those kings and generals to fulfill his intentions. Kingdoms rises and falls and all these are the works of God.

Daniel 2:21 Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.  He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

The rises and falls of the kingdoms of the human history are the works of God. God is the one who set up kings and kingdoms and deposes them.

Job 12:23 He (God) makes nations great, and destroys them; he enlarges nations, and disperses them.  He deprives the leaders of the earth of their reason; he makes them wander in a trackless waste. They grope in darkness with no light; he makes them stagger like drunkards.

    Nebuchadnezzar and Cyrus

The bible testifies about kings who received kingdoms from God. We are going to look at the two kings, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon and Cyrus, the king of Persia. Even though God gave them their own kingdoms, one acknowledged God and gave honor to God, through which he could be blessed. However, the other gave honor to himself and his kingdom was deprived from him. By looking at the stories of the two kings we must realize that it is God who set up kings and kingdoms. And second, we have to know that when God called someone, He gives them missions which they have to accomplish to do the will of God. When they have done the missions given to them, they could be blessed by God. But when they have failed to do, they could be cursed by God.

    Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon

Through the prophet Jeremiah God already foretold that his people would be slaves of Babylon for 70 years.

Jeremiah 24:9 I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the Lord, “and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin. 10 I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp. 11 This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

To fulfill this prophecy of the bible, Nebuchadnezzar conquered the nation of Judah and God’s people became the slaves of Babylon. All these things were done by God to fulfill his words.

Daniel 2:37 37 Your Majesty, you are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory; 38 in your hands he has placed all mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds in the sky. Wherever they live, he has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.

Daniel clearly says that it was God who gave the kingdom to Nebuchadnezzar. And after listening to the interpretation of the dream, Nebuchadnezzar himself acknowledged that it is God who gave him the kingdom and gave praise to God.

Daniel 2:46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him. 47 The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.

However, later the king became proud of himself and his work, he failed to give honor to God for all the works he has done. Instead, he exalted himself for all the achievements and be cursed by God.

Daniel 4:28 All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar. 29 Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, 30 he said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?” 31 Even as the words were on his lips, a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you. 32 You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.”

The bible teaches that all these took place to teach us that it is God who plans the human history, not any man or any king.

Daniel 4:17  “‘The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of people.’

    Cyrus, the King of Persia

Now let us take a look at another king who was eager to do the will of God and be blessed by God. Through Prophet Isaiah God prophesied about Cyrus and the works he would do.

Isaiah 45:1 “This is what the Lord says to his anointed,
to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of
    to subdue nations before him
and to strip kings of their armor,
    to open doors before him
so that gates will not be shut:
    I will go before you
        and will level the mountains[a];
I will break down gates of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.
I will give you hidden treasures,
        riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the Lord,
the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
For the sake of Jacob my servant,
        of Israel my chosen,
    I summon you by name
and bestow on you a title of honor,
though you do not acknowledge me.

In this prophecy, about 160 years before the birth of Cyrus, through Prophet Isaiah God already foretold the appearance of Cyrus and the works he would. Cyrus would conquer the nations with the help of God. Then why did God summon Cyrus? To Cyrus God entrusted some missions about His people Israel.

Isaiah 45:13 I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness:
I will make all his ways straight.
    He will rebuild my city
        and set my exiles free,
but not for a price or reward,
        says the Lord Almighty.”

Finally when Cyrus conquered the kingdom of Babylon, he came to know about the prophecies of God. His heart was moved by the words of God, and he set the Israel people free from the slavery of Babylon and let them go back to their own country to build the temple of God. He provided all the building materials for the temple including silver and gold and other gemstones. He did all these things with a willing mind giving thanks and praise to God for all the work He has done for him.

For this reason, even though he was a Gentile king, he could be blessed enough to take up one part of the prophecies of the appearance of the Christ. According to one prophecy, the appearance of the Second Coming Christ is compared to the coming of Cyrus to set God’s people free from the slavery of sin and death of the prophetical Babylon, that is, the Roman Catholic Church.

Paul writing letters moved by the Holy Spirit

God, the Author of the Human History

Through these prophecies of the bible we can see that the one who runs the human history is not a mere man such as a king or a general, but God himself. God set up kings and nations with certain purposes in mind.

Today, too, sometimes many things happen that seem to be chaotic and catastrophic. Sometimes we might be bewildered and confused. But whatever might happen, we have to remember just one thing that it is God who is working behind this and his ultimate purpose is the salvation of his people.

As people of God who believe in Elohim God, God the Father and God the Mother, we should not be afraid. Rather we have to give thanks and honor to God all the time because God is working even now to save us and take us to the new heaven and the new earth where there is no mourning, pain, suffering, nor death.

  • The Purpose of the Bible

    The Purpose of the Bible

What is the purpose of the bible?

Probably the question above is the most important one we have to ask when we read a book? What is the main topic? What does the author intend to deliver through this book? These are the most basic questions we ask when we read any books. It is the same with the bible. When God gave us this book, God must have his intention in it and we should know what is the purpose of God in giving this book to us. In this way, we can grasp the true meaning of the bible.

When we don’t think about this point, we can get lost in the words on the pages and wander around the things that are not important for us to know. In this way, some try to understand history, others parables, and still others moral lessons from the bible. But if these are not the intention of the writer, then we are missing the most important thing from this book even though we might get some knowledge through our reading.

    Prophet Hosea writes:

Hosea 8:12 I wrote for them the many things of my law, but they regarded them as something foreign.

This means God wrote these words for the benefit of us. Therefore, we have to understand the meaning of the bible for our benefit. Then what is the purpose of the bible? What is the reason God gave us this book? Let us find out the meaning of the bible through the words of God in the bible. Apostles and prophets who received these words from the bible teach clearly to us about the main intention and purpose of the bible. Apostle John writes about the deed and words of Christ in this way.

John 21:25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

This is true. God could have written thousands upon thousands books to teach us about everything: history, secrets, parables, moral lessons, etc. Anyway, God is God of wisdom and knowledge. And we are so much ignorant. How many would there be God wants to let us know!! However, He did not do that. He compiled only small part of His work and deed and gave us this book. This means this book has a specific intention of God which we have to understand. Then what is it? John let us know the intention of God. He writes:

John 20:30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

He clearly says that Jesus did much more than what is recorded in this book. Nevertheless, he recorded only small part of Jesus’ work and that part is specifically related to a topic, that is, “life” or eternal life. Through this we can understand God gave us the bible with this in mind: he wanted to teach us about the Savior and about the eternal life that we may have through the faith in the Savior.

This is the main purpose of the bible. Therefore, what we have to seek is the Savior who gives us eternal life and the way we can receive eternal life. Now let us find out the Savior in this Age of the Holy Spirit and the way we can receive eternal life from them.

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

The bible teaches that we have to meet the Spirit and the Bride for the water of eternal life. The ultimate purpose of reading the bible, therefore, must be finding the Spirit and the Bride who give the water of life. Who are the Spirit and the Bride? God gave us this book to give us answer to this question. I hope you would find the answer through the bible.

  • The Spirit and the Bride

    The Spirit and the Bride

Whom Does the Bible Testify About?

The bible is the book testifying about the Savior who was to come to give us salvation.

John 5:39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

“Christ” in Greek or “Messiah” in Hebrew means “the Anointed One”, which means God would come as man and be anointed to fulfill the prophecies of the bible as king, prophet, and high priest. 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ came as the Anointed One, but people rejected him and at the end crucified him on the cross. Only those who believed the words and prophecies of God in the bible could accept him and receive salvation.

The same bible testifies that Christ would come as man for the second time (Heb 9:28), and get anointed again to complete the prophecies of the bible. When it happens, it would be a great test to people today. Many who look at the appearances of the Christ would reject him. Only those who believes in the words of God in the bible would receive him as fulfillment of the prophecies of the bible and receive salvation.

Many says that the bride in the heavenly wedding in Revelation is the church. Today let us get rid of our prejudice and find out the identity of the heavenly New Jerusalem, the bride and wife of the Lamb.

The Spirit and Bride Giving the Water of Life

    The Water of Life

According to the bible, the salvation of God is expressed through many different metaphors. Sometimes it is compared to bread that gives life (Jn 6:35), or to water (Jn 4:13), or even to seeds (Mt 13:37). Especially powerful is the metaphor of water that gives life. It is used all throughout the bible as the main motif of God’s salvation. Prophet Isaiah says:

Isaiah 55:1 Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! ….. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live.

In Ezekiel, we can see the water of life flowing out from the temple of God and in Revelation too there is the water of life from the throne of God. Water is essential to lead a life on this earth. By using this function of water God is comparing his salvation and to receive the salvation we have to drink the water of life.

The Water of Life From God

Then who is the source of the water of life? According to the bible the only source of water of life is God himself because only God can give eternal life. (Ps 133:3, Jn 10:28) In the Old Testament, God the Father Jehovah was the Savior and thus He was the source of the water of life.

Jeremiah 2:13 My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

Therefore, those who wanted to receive salvation must come to God Jehovah for the water of life. In the Age of the Son, it was only Jesus who could give the water of life.

John 4:13 Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

Then what about us? Who is the source of the water of life in our time? Definitely, it is God. Then who is the true Savior that we have to receive as God in the last day? Without paying attention to the bible, we cannot find the true Savior. Then what does the bible say about the Savior in the last day? Who are the source of the water of life?

What is the New Jerusalem that is the source of the water of life in the last day?

The Water of Life from the Spirit and the Bride

Revelation, which testifies about the last day, teaches us the true source of the water of life in the last day.

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

Revelation prophesies that the water of life or salvation of eternal life is coming from the Spirit and the bride. Then who must be the Spirit and the bride? We have agreed that the only one who can give the water of life is God himself. In this respect, we can say that the Spirit and the bride must be God.

The Spirit is God the Father in terms of the Trinity that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one. Then who are the bride of the Spirit (or the Lamb in Revelation 21:9 and 19:7)? Since this bride is the wife of the Lamb Jesus, who is God the Father, we can guess she must be God the Mother.

Who is the Bride of the Lamb?

The Bride of the Lamb, Heavenly Jerusalem

In the Book of Revelation, John testifies about the bride of the Spirit who gives the water of life. Let us follow his testimony one by one to find out the identity of the bride in Revelation.

Revelation 19:7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.

Here we can see the wedding banquet of the Lamb and the bride. Since the Lamb in Chapter 19 is referred as the Spirit in Chapter 22, we can see the Lamb (or Jesus) is the Spirit. That is, the bridegroom of the wedding is Jesus himself. Since this is about the last day, we can say that this is about Jesus’ Second Coming as bridegroom to complete the parable of wedding banquet which he taught 2000 years ago. (Mt 22:1) Then who is the bride of Jesus? She was never mentioned in the parable of the wedding banquet 2000 years ago since it was not the time for her to be revealed.

Finally, the time for the bride has come and she is ready to be revealed. Then who is the bride or the wife of the Lamb?

Revelation 21:9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

An angel showed John the New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. What is the New Jerusalem who is the wife of the Lamb?

    Heavenly Jerusalem Our Mother

Here the angel showed John the wife of the Lamb. Strangely enough the bride of the Lamb is described as “the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” (Rev 21:2) As we know that the bible is mainly written in a parabolic language, we have to understand this also as parable. We should not think that a city of precious gems is coming down from heaven.

To find out the true meaning of the Heavenly Jerusalem we have to find a mated verse in the bible as Isiah said: “Look in the scroll of the Lord and read: None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate.” The vision of the heavenly Jerusalem can be explained through the mated verse in the bible.

Apostle Paul had the same vision of the Heavenly Jerusalem and testified about it.

Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

Paul clearly testifies that the Heavenly Jerusalem is our Mother, which means God the Mother who give us life. The reason God the Mother is compared the Most Holy Place of the Jerusalem Temple (Rev 21:16) can be found in Jesus Christ himself, who compared his body as temple of God where the Spirit of God dwells. (Jn 2:20) This is true with God the Mother who will appear in human likeness, forsaking the divinity of God. (Phil 2:7)

(To find more information about Christ as the reality of the temple, follow this link.)

Jesus said that he is the source of the water of life. Likewise, Christ is the true temple of God from where the living water is flowing out to the whole world giving life to people.

    Conclusion

Through these testimonies of the bible, we can conclude that the Spirit and the Bride are God the Father and God the Mother, coming together to give the water of life.

Therefore, those who want to receive the salvation of God in our time must know the Spirit and Bride to receive the water of life. If we look at the outward appearance of the Spirit and the Bride, we can be deceived and reject them. Then what the consequences would be!! Rather suspending our disbelief, we have to pay attention to the words of God in the bible. Then we can see the divinity hidden in the form of human likeness.

Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother appeared as the Spirit and the bride to us to give us the water of life. Now come to the Spirit and the bride and receive the salvation of eternal life.

  • Christ Ahnsahnghong Coming as Elijah

    Christ Ahnsahnghong Coming as Elijah

    Elijah Ahnsahnghong

In the previous article, we have seen the relation between John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. John the Baptist came as Elijah to prepare the way for the Lord and he testified Jesus as Lord God who would come for the forgiveness of sins and salvation.

However, even though the prophecies of Elijah were partially accomplished by the coming of John the Baptist, the complete fulfillment of the prophecies did not happen at that time. If we look at the prophecies closely, the true fulfillment of the prophecies was reserved for the last day.

The Time of Appearance of Elijah

In the Book of Malachi, we can see the prophecies of Elijah’s coming to prepare the way for the Lord and to turn the hearts of people to God. But it also testifies about the time frame when the prophecies are to be fulfilled.

Malachi 4:1 “Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord Almighty.

Malachi 4:3 “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.

According to the prophecies above, the period is just before the total destruction with fire on the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Before everything is to be destroyed with fire, God is going to send Prophet Elijah to turn the hearts of people to God so that they could return to God for salvation. This shows that Elijah would come just before the total destruction with fire, that is, just before the Day of Judgment to save the children of God.

    Elijah Ahnsahnghong
Elijah with a garment of hair and with a leather belt around his waist

    Who is Elijah?

Also, through the name Elijah, we can see that John the Baptist did not fulfill the prophecies completely. The name Elijah is a combination of “Eli” and “Jah”, which respectively means “God” and “Jehovah”. This means the true fulfillment of the prophecies must be accomplished by God Jehovah himself. He must appear as Prophet Elijah just before the Day of Judgment and He will fulfill the missions of Elijah: preparing the way for the Lord and turning the hearts of people to God.

This explanation is a little bit strange. God is coming to prepare the way of God? Does it mean there are two Gods, the one who comes before to prepare the way and the other who comes after as Lord to give salvation? This seems to be odd in the perspective of most Christians who believe there are only one God in heaven, God the Father.

Two Images of God: Male and Female

This is a very serious question we have to ask to understand the meaning of the prophecies. Is there only one God or more than one? Actually the bible says there are two images of God: God the Father and God the Mother. In the original Hebrew version of the Old Testament God is referred to as Elohim for 2500 times in the bible. “Elohim” is the plural form of God in Hebrew, which means “Gods”, rather than God. In short, God is Gods, Father and Mother, not just one God the Father.

Briefly we can see this through God’s creation of man in Genesis. According to Genesis, when God created man, God used himself as model for man. Even though God is invisible and we cannot know the image of God, since man was given the image of God, we can understand the image of God through man who was created after the image of God.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, ….  So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

There is something strange in the verse above. Rather than using a singular form such as “me” or “my”, God is referring to himself through the plural form, “us” and “our”. But then why? We can find the answer through man who God created with his own image. Man has two images, male and female, or Adam and Eve. Through the creation of man, we can conclude that God has two images too, male and female, that is, God the Father and God the Mother.

    Elijah Ahnsahnghong
    Elijah fed by the ravens

God the Father and God the Mother

Now we can understand the mystery of Elijah (who is God) coming as messenger to prepare the way for God. The prophecy is about God the Father (Elijah or God Jehovah) who is coming to prepare the way of God the Mother in the last day to save God’s people.

Actually, this was already foreshadowed in the creation of Adam and Eve. As we know Adam represents God the Father (Rom 5:14). Then who does Eve the wife of Adam represent? God the Mother. The creation of Adam and Eve on the sixth day has some hidden prophetical meaning in it. In the prophetical term, one day is equivalent to one thousand years. (2Pe 3:8) Therefore, the six-day creation actually represents the six-thousand years of God’s salvation work.

According to the plan of God, on the last day, that is, the sixth day, Adam and Eve would appear to lead the animals. The prophetical meaning of this is that at the end of the six thousand year’s salvation work the prophetical Adam and Eve would appear to lead the Gentiles to salvation who are represented as animals. (1Co 15:45)

Elijah Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother

All these prophecies got fulfilled by Christ Ahnsahnghong. Christ Ahnsahnghong came as Elijah and testified about the one who was to come after him, God the Mother. Just as Adam who represents Christ or God the Father testified about Eve (God the Mother) by calling her “the mother of all the living”, (Gen 3:20) Father Ahnsahnghong revealed Heavenly Mother New Jerusalem through the heavenly wedding banquet as the one who gives eternal life.

Wedding Banquet and God the Mother: Elijah Ahnsahnghong revealed God the Mother through the heavenly wedding banquet.

This all happened to fulfill the prophecies of the revelation. It says:

Revealtion 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

This prophecy says that the water of life or “eternal life” would be given by the Spirit (God the Father) and the Bride (God the Mother). By the fulfillment of all the prophecies of the Bible we can say Christ Ahnsahnghong is the Elijah who was to come and God the Mother is the Lord we have to receive for salvation.

  • John the Baptist and Jesus Christ

John the Baptist and Jesus Christ

John the Baptist Coming as Elijah

2000 years ago Jesus Christ taught his disciples that John the Baptist was Elijah who was to come.

Matthew 11:14 And if you are willing to accept it, he (John the Baptist) is the Elijah who was to come.

This means Elijah in the Old Testament was the prophetical figure who foreshadowed the one who would come to fulfill the prophecies. John the Baptist came and accomplished the prophecies of Elijah. In this respect, we can say that John the Baptist was the prophetical or spiritual Elijah who was to come.

Now let us find out some of the features in the prophecies of Elijah and the manner John the Baptist fulfilled the prophecies as spiritual counterpart.

    Elijah and His Mission

John the Baptist and Jesus Christ : Elijah in the Old Testament was a prophetical figure and John the Baptist came to fulfill the prophecies of Elijah. Then who is Elijah and what are prophecies that are concerned about him? Why are those prophecies important to us?

Prophecies About the Appearance of Elijah

According to the prophecies in the bible, Elijah would come to prepare the way of God and bring a reconciliation between God and his people. Let us first take a look at the prophecies in the bible.

Isaiah 40:3 A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah says that one is going to appear to prepare the way of God. Then who is the one who would come to prepare the way of God. We can see a mated verse in Malachi.

Malachi 3:1 “I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.

God said that He would send a messenger to prepare the way for Him (God). And in the next chapter, he continues and let us who would come to prepare the way of God’s coming to his people.

Malachi 4:5 “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”

John the Baptist coming as Elijah preaching the baptism of repentance to turn the hearts of people to God

    The Mission of Elijah

Then what is the purpose of Elijah’s coming? According to the prophecies above, Elijah comes mainly for two missions that he should accomplish. First, he was to prepare the way of God so that the glory of God would be revealed to people. This contains many deep connotations in it. Above all, Elijah should appear first and somehow he was to reveal God who was coming after him. Also, Since Elijah is coming as messenger for God, we cannot know who God is without first knowing who Elijah is. When we recognize Elijah, we can recognize God who is coming after Elijah and revealed by Elijah.

The second mission of Elijah is bringing a reconciliation between God and his people by bringing the hearts of people toward God, and also the heart of God toward His people. This means there was kind of separation between God and His people and it is only through Elijah that the estrangement can be resolved. As a result, there could be a reunion between God and His people.

These are the two missions of Elijah: revealing God to people who has no knowledge of God, and bringing a reconciliation between them so that God’s people could return to God for the blessings. According to these prophecies, people cannot know who God is and get reconciled to God for the blessing without first knowing Elijah. Therefore, Elijah’s appearance was essential for the salvation of God’s people.

John the Baptist and Jesus Christ: John the Baptist testifying about Jesus: “Look the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.”

John the Baptist Coming as Elijah

    John the Baptist as Elijah

These prophecies in the Old Testament was fulfilled by John the Baptist coming as spiritual Elijah 2000 years ago. Jesus clearly teaches that John the Baptist was the prophetical Elijah who was to come.

Matthew 11:10 This is the one about whom it is written: “‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’ …. For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear.

By quoting the prophecies of Malachi, Jesus let us know that John the Baptist was the one who was to come as Elijah. Also, he says:

Matthew 17:11 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

Through the testimonies of Jesus, we can know that John the Baptist was the spiritual Elijah.

John the Baptist and Mission of Elijah

    Preparing the Way of God

Then how did John the Baptist accomplish the mission of Elijah? How did he prepare the way of God and brought reconciliation between God and His people?

John the Baptist fulfilled the prophecy about preparing the way of God by testifying about himself and God who was to come after him. First, John the Baptist testified about himself coming as Elijah by quoting from the prophecies of the bible. By quoting Isaiah, he let us know that he is the messenger who comes first to prepare the way of God and then he teaches about the one who comes after him.

John 1:22 Finally they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” 23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’” … 26 “I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. 27 He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”

Through his testimony, we can be sure that he is the prophetical Elijah and he is testifying about the Lord who was coming after him. Also, he testified about the Lord who was to come after him.

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’

    Bringing Reconciliation

He reveals that Jesus is the Lord who came for the forgiveness of sins. He also teaches that Jesus is God “who was before him” even though he came after him to fulfill the prophecies. And also through the baptism of repentance, he brought the reconciliation by bringing the hearts of people toward God through repentance.

Matthew 3:1 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Luke 3:3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

Through the baptism of repentance, he turned the hearts of people to God and God’s heart to His people.

    Conclusion

In this post, I showed about the prophecies of Elijah and the fulfillment of the prophecies by John the Baptist. As I have told before, only those who received John the Baptist as Elijah could receive Jesus Christ as the Lord God who was to come to save them.

Those who did not receive John the Baptist denied Jesus’ coming as Savior. Since John the Baptist was not Elijah to them, Elijah did not come yet; neither did the Lord who was to appear after Elijah.

Luke 7:29 (All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John. 30 But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)

Those who received John the Baptist could receive Jesus as the Lord and those who did not receive John the Baptist could accept Jesus as the Lord to come. To them, neither Elijah nor the Lord came yet.

This prophecies of Elijah is extremely important to us today because the fulfillment of the prophecies by John the Baptist coming as Elijah 2000 years ago was just a partial fulfillment. The complete fulfillment of the prophecies are going to come true in the last day. In the next post, I would like to talk about the prophecies of Elijah and Lord which are going to be fulfilled in the last day.

  • Following Christ’s Examples

    Following Christ’s Examples

People’s Craze for the Things they Like

    BTS and Movie “Parasite”

Today BTS has become a great fad around the world. The members of ARMY the BTS fan club try to follow what the idol group does. They try to resemble the idols they love, eating the same food, going to the same movie, imitating the same gestures such as fingerhearts and some dance moves, and most of all they try to resemble the personality or life attitudes of the idols.

Also recently a movie called “Parasite” became a great sensation by being nominated as Oscar Award and receiving the awards in 4 major areas of the award. Along with the popularity, one food has become popular too—“Jjapaguri” which is a mixture of two different Korean noodles, Neoguri and Jjapaghetti. After it was known through the movie “Parasite”, many tried their own Jjapaguri and many restaurants—even in hotels—added the new menu to catch up with the craze.

All these things shows that people have natural inclination to follow or imitate the things or people they like. They try the same clothes and looks as their idols. They do the same gestures and actions. And also they try to learn some life lessons from them by imitating their attitude and viewpoints toward the world around them.

Jjapaguri used in the movie “Parasite”

    God as Our Example

Then how much should the people of God try to follow and resemble God? According to the bible, the people of God are those who follow God and walk the path of life as God has laid out for them without missing anything.

Jesus Christ’s Examples for Us to Follow

2000 years ago Jesus Christ came and set examples for us to follow through his actions and teachings. Therefore, whatever written in the bible is a lesson that we have to learn and follow to be the people of God.

John 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

All the things that Jesus did were given to us as examples that we should follow as Jesus did before us. That is why Apostle Paul emphasize again and again that we have to follow the examples of Jesus just as he did.

1 Corinthians 11:1 1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

1 Thessalonians 1:6  You became imitators of us and of the Lord

Repeatedly he admonishes that we should follow the example of Christ or his examples since he is following Christ’s examples. By following his examples, actually we come to follow Christ’s examples.

    Christ’s Examples in the Bible

Therefore, it is quite obvious that we should follow examples of Christ and they should be no other contention about this. Then what we should know is what is the examples of Christ that we should follow? Many churches practices different customs for different aspects of faith in God. Since Christ has shown one example to follow, one church must be practicing the examples of God and all other churches which practices different customs are practicing what is not the examples of Christ.

    Baptism

For example, let us think about one act of faith that is “baptism”. There are so many different practices of baptism among the churches. Some says that we don’t have to be baptized, and others say that we should. And some says sprinkling water is enough, but others say that our whole body should be drenched with water. Also some says that we have to delay the baptism until we have faith in God, and others say we should get baptized immediately.

Then what is the true example of Christ in the matter of baptism and how can we know what the custom of Christ and disciples of the early churches was? We can know the truth about baptism through the testimonies of the bible. We can see many descriptions in the bible about the baptism of Jesus and disciples baptizing the new believers of Christ. (Mt 3:13)

If we look at the gospel work of Apostle Paul, we can see many occasions that the whole family members of the believers got baptized. Even a new born baby in the family received baptism even though they did not know about Christ. (Act 16:15, Act 16:33) A baptism was essential and immediate in their life of faith. Then what about us? Can we ignore baptism preferring over faith in God? What actually the bible teaches us is that we have to be baptized all the more because of our faith because we want to show our faith in God through our action.

Synagogue or church in Capernaum in which Jesus attended and taught Jews. On what day did Jesus go to the church and teach the Jews? It was a Sabbath Day or Saturday, not Sunday.

    Sabbath Day

Then what about the day of worship? Today, most of the Christian churches go to service on Sundays. Then are they following Christ’s example or following their own thoughts? According to the bible, the example Christ has shown us is the Sabbath worship by going to the church on Saturdays.

Luke 4:16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.

Here we can see Jesus going to the church on the Sabbath Day, that is, Saturday, and teaching the words of God to the people in the synagogue. Following Jesus’ example, apostles and disciples too had worship services on the Sabbath Day.

Acts 17:2 As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

If we are believers of God and we truly love God, what should we do? Shouldn’t we follow the examples of God doing whatever Christ has done as examples to us.

Christ's Examples that we should follow
BTS Fan store: Those who like idols wants to follow everything related to the group they like.

    Conclusion

Today, many churches practices custom which was never shown as examples by Christ or disciples such as Christmas or Sunday worship, and they call themselves as people of God who love God. What would God say to those who ignore his examples but follow different custom? Jesus clearly declares to them that they do not belong to him and he commands them to get away from him. (Mt 7:21)

The bible teaches that the true people of God are those who follow Christ’s example without adding to or subtracting from the teachings of Christ in the bible.

Revelation 14:4 These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes.

Those who follow the Christ completely are the saints of God who God will give salvation in the last days. Therefore, we must not deceive ourselves with many excuses not to follow Christ’s examples. And we must not think that God will save us since we have faith in God. Rather listen carefully to the words of God and realize that the true faith always accompanies actions and the faith without deeds is dead. (Jas 2:17)

  • The Spiritual Doctor

    The Spiritual Doctor

    Jesus Coming as Spiritual Doctor

2000 years ago when Jesus came to this earth, he healed the diseases of people of the time as part of the fulfillment of the prophecies of the bible.

Matthew 4:23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

Jesus, however, was not just healing the physical diseases, but according to the prophecies of Isaiah he was to “come to save his people”. (Isa 35:4) According to this prophecy, Jesus was to appear for the salvation of the people of God. While healing the diseases of people, actually he was healing the spiritual diseases of the people, that is, their sins and iniquities to make them clean and holy again so that they can become the holy people of God again. (Lk5:21, Lk7:47) In this respect, we can say that mainly Jesus came to this earth as spiritual doctor to save his people from the terminal disease that is “sin” and “death”.

Spiritual Doctor: Jesus came as Spiritual Doctor and Healed diseases of People

Matthew 9:12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

    Spiritual Diseases and Patients

    Spiritual Disease: Sins and Death

Then what is the spiritual diseases Jesus wanted to heal? Physically, diseases cause illness and weakness, and they lead people to death in the end. Spiritually, it is the same. The spiritual disease is the one that leads people to death. Then spiritually what is the disease that leads us to death? What is the disease that Jesus wanted to heal to save us from death and destruction?

Ezekiel 18:4 For everyone belongs to me, the parent as well as the child—both alike belong to me. The one who sins is the one who will die.

James 1:15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

    Spiritual Patients: All Minkind

Throughout the bible, it testifies that the cause of death is the sin; and thus we can conclude that sin is the main diseases that leads us to death. Then who are the patients who have this disease on this earth? Is there anyone who is free from sins and death? Is there anyone who is righteous on this earth?

Spiritual Doctor: Jesus came as Spiritual Doctor and Healed diseases of People

Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;     there is no one who does good. 2 The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. 3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

And Apostle Paul also testifies that we who are living on this earth are all sinners:

Romans 5:12  Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

Nobody lives forever on this earth. Just as the writer of Psalms says our life on this earth 70 or-if in good condition-80 years. And the span of life is fed up with agonies and sorrows and ends up with death. Everyone on this earth is under this destiny and therefore we can say that spiritually we are all sinners destined to die.

    How to Cure the Disease?

Freed from the Death Penalty through Christ’s Sacrifice

Now the question is “how can we cure the disease of sins and live?” Even though we are sinners who are destined to die, the bible says that Jesus Christ came to save us.

Hebrews 2:14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Because of our sins, we all are under the slavery of death. However, Jesus came and through his sacrifice on the cross he cancelled our sins and gave us the forgiveness of sins. And through the forgiveness of sins, he set us free from the death and gave us the blessings of eternal life.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Even though once we were destined to die because of our sins, by the grace of God we can have eternal life or “life without death” by having faith in Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Doctor: Jesus came as Spiritual Doctor and Healed diseases of People

    Spiritual Panacea: Passover

True Faith That Give Us Salvation

To the wretched sinners who are crying out in agony as Paul said, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?”, Jesus came down to this earth in the flesh to give us forgiveness of sins. If we believe in the words of God in the bible, anybody would agree with what I have said up until now.

Now we have to ask the biggest question of all. That is, how can we receive the blessings of forgiveness and eternal life promised in Jesus Christ? Many will say that by simply having the faith in Jesus we can receive those blessings? But the problem is that the faith is not that easy to define. The bible says that there are different faiths: good and bad. James says, “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead”. (Jas2:14) Jesus also taught that there are people who are not to be saved even though they have faith in him.

Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Both of the verses clearly says that we should “DO” something to show our faith and “action” is the most important thing in the true faith. Then what is “action” or “the will of God” that we should do to show our faith in God and in Jesus?

The Will of God for the Forgiveness of Sins

Then what is the will of God that we should “do” through our action or deed to receive the forgiveness for our sins?

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

The bible teaches that we can receive the forgiveness of sins through the blood of Christ. And also the bible teaches us that we should participate in the blood of Christ.

1 Corinthians 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

    Forgiveness through the Passover

Paul teaches that we have to participate in the blood of Christ through our action. Then what is the cup that we must drink to participate in the blood of Christ? That is the Passover.

Luke 22:14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. …. 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

Through the Passover we can participate in the blood of Christ and by participating in the blood of Christ we can receive the promise of God the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

Matthew 26:26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Also Apostle John teaches that we can receive the promise of eternal life through the Passover.

John 6:53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

    Conclusion

Jesus who came to this earth as spiritual doctor taught that we have to do the will of God by keeping the Passover to receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Now we have to know what the truth faith in Christ as believers of God and Jesus is. Do we have faith in God by claiming that we do or if we do have faith in God isn’t it right thing to show our faith through our action?

In our time, the Church of God keeps the Passover of the new covenant according to the will of God. We as believers of God and the bible should join the Church of God and keep the Passover. And then we can receive the promise of God the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

    Passover, the law of life

The Passover, the Law That Gives Life

Paul teaches that we who were once under the law of sin and death has been freed and are now under the law of the Spirit and life through Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Then what is the law of the Spirit and life that gives us freedom from the slavery of sin and death and leads us to the eternal kingdom of heaven?

The Law of Life Prophesied in the Old Testament

Through Prophet Jeremiah, God already foretold the appearance of the law of life through which God would allow us to receive freedom from sin and death. Jeremiah prophesied:

Jeremiah 31:31 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. 32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. 33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

Through Prophet Jeremiah God promised that He would make a new covenant with his people, a law through which God would forgive the wickedness and sins of his people. Then what is the new covenant prophesied in Jeremiah? We can find the fulfillment of this prophecy in the work of Jesus Christ.

Prophecy of the Appearance of the Lord

Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist filled with the Holy Spirit foretold the coming of Messiah to give salvation (or life) through the forgiveness of sins to the people of God.

Luke 1:76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, 77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, 78 because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven 79 to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

Here Zechariah says that his son John the Baptist is the prophet Elijah who came to prepare the way for the Lord or Messiah to fulfill the prophecies of Isaiah and Malachi. (Isaiah 40:3, Malachi 3:1, Malachi 4:5). And he also teaches the appearance of the Lord or Messiah who would come after John the Baptist. He would appear as “the rising sun” giving light to people “living in darkness and in the shadow of death” and he would bring them “salvation through the forgiveness of sins.”

The Passover, The Law of Life

This prophecy was fulfilled by Jesus coming as Lord bringing the law of life that gives us freedom from sin and death through the establishment of the new covenant, “the law of life”. On the night of the Passover, Jesus established the new covenant through the Passover bread and wine as it was prophesied by Jeremiah.

Luke 22:19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

According to the teachings of Paul and Jeremiah, this new covenant Passover is the law of life that give us the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Let us find out the meanings of the Passover. Paul says that the law of life has power to give the forgiveness of sin and free us from the power of death. Also it give us eternal life or salvation.

The Forgiveness of Sins Through the Passover

While establishing the Passover, Jesus taught us about the blessings contained in the Passover. One of the blessings of God in Passover is the forgiveness of sins. Jesus Christ proclaimed the forgiveness of sins through the Passover bread and wine.

On the night of the Passover, giving out the wine of the Passover, Jesus proclaimed that the Passover wine represents his blood he shed for the forgiveness of sins. Through the Passover the law of life, we can receive the forgiveness of sins and freedom from the slavery of death.

Since we are freed from sins and death, we can have the right to participate in the eternal life in heaven.

How can we wash our robe white through the blood of Lamb?

    Eternal Life Through the Passover

Jesus teaches that those who received the forgiveness through the Passover can participate in the eternal life in heaven. In the Book of John, he explains another meaning of the Passover like this:

John 6:53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Here Jesus teaches that those who participated in his flesh and blood through the Passover bread and wine are the ones who can have salvation and will be raised into eternal life in heaven. And in the Book of Revelation they are described as the ones who can enter the kingdom of heaven.

Revelation 7:14 “Sir,” I answered, “you know.” So he replied, “These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Revelation 22:14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

In Revelation 7 we can see a multitude who washed their robe white with the blood of Lamb and in Chapter 22 they are described as the ones who can eat from the tree of life and enter into the city, that is, heaven. Then what does it mean to wash the robe white with the blood of Lamb? It means to cleanse the sins through the blood of Christ through the Passover.

    Conclusion

Paul says that those who are in Christ are freed from the law of sin and death and they are the ones who would be in the law of the Spirit and life through Jesus Christ. Through the teachings of God in the bible we can understand that the law of life Christ established for our salvation is none other than the Passover of the new covenant.

Through the Passover, Christ promised the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Therefore, those who want participate in the promise of God of eternal life must keep the Passover of the new covenant. Now is the time that we have to understand the will of God to enter heaven. (Matthew 7:21) And the will of God for us is to keep the Passover and have the law of life in us to be the people of God. Let us keep the Passover with a humble mind.
