When the situation is right for you to do something you’re interested in doing, you have the opportunity to do it. The word comes from the Latin phrase, ob portum veniens “coming toward a port” which refers to a favorable wind blowing ships into the harbor. Think of an opportunity as something a good wind blew your way. From Vocabulary.com
Opportunity means the most favorable time or moment to do something. To emphasize the importance of “opportunity”, people in Korea say that opportunity comes three times in one’s life. How important the opportunity would be! How sad and terrible it would be if we lose the precious opportunity which comes only three times in one’s life time! Therefore, we have to seize the opportunity when it is available.
Spiritually, it is the same. God grants each person an opportunity to receive salvation. Those who seize the precious opportunity will receive great reward in the Kingdom of Heaven; those who lose the opportunity will receive great punishment in Hell. Therefore, we have to cherish the opportunity granted by God and seize it when it is available.
The bible teaches us about the importance of seizing the opportunity. Esau was born to receive the blessings of God as the firstborn of Isaac, but he despised the birthright and sold it to his brother Jacob. And later he begged blessing with tears but could not receive any because he lost his opportunity.
Hebrews 12:16 See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. 17 Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done.
God has been working for 6000 years for our salvation. And he gave the mankind opportunities for three times to give them salvation as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Now is the precious opportunity for us to receive great blessings from God. If we lose this opportunity, we will not have another one. We should seize this opportunity given by God by receiving Father Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother.
