As human beings, most of us must have asked some fundamental questions about our life on this earth. Where did we come from? Why are we living on this earth? Where shall we go after our life in this earth ends? The bible gives us answers for the questions. Now let us find answers one by one through the words of God in the bible.
Where are we going after death?
In the first and second story of “Visitors for the World of Angel” we came to know that we were once angels in heaven and came down to this earth because of our sins we committed in heaven. The last but not the least topic we are going to search is the end of the story, that is, what happens when our life on this earth is over.
The bible teaches us again and again that we are going back to heaven. In the book of Genesis and Ecclesiastes, God let us know what happens after the separation of the soul and body in the time of death.
Genesis 1: 7 Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
The dust (or the body) which came from the dust of the ground goes back to the dust, but the spirit which came from God in heaven goes back to God in heaven. Through this we can see that our home is not on this earth, but in heaven.
Return to Heaven
For this reason, Apostles testifies that our home is in heaven. They compare our life in the flesh to the tent which is temporary dwelling for our spirit. This tent of body is temporary and will be destroyed in the end. When our tent of body is destroyed, we will receive eternal home or spiritual body God prepared for us in heaven.
1 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.
Paul further testifies that our home is in heaven and we are the citizens of heaven.
Hebrews 11:14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
Philippians 3:20 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
Jesus said that he would come and take us back to where he lives. (John 14:2) What do all these testimonies signify? They teach us that we do not belong to this earth, but heaven. Just as Christ Ahnsahnghong taught us, we are the visitors from the world of angels who are staying on this earth for a short period of time.
When our life on this earth is over, the glorious heaven our eternal home is waiting for us. God is teaching us that we have to make every effort to enter the place.
